I saw him jump off in the deepest water hole he could find last night and he's never even been around any! He will bark occasionally and even did so last night around the tree when we got there after we tied him but I feel he is just doing that because he's afraid we are going to leave him when we go to shine the tree. He has opened several times while the other dogs are tracking but he's just barking since they are. Either way, for a 6 month old puppy who's been to the woods twice, he's doing OUTSTANDING in my book especially considering how much I haven't worked with him and have just let him be a puppy. Once he matures a little i think he'll pick it up fast. He's a very quick study and it's very encouraging to see him want to go hunting!

They ran it about 200 yards. I probably won't take him again for a week or two and let him keep growing up but it was a very positive training session and he did great for his 3rd trip to the woods. I don't like to show a dog many caged coons but I do think it's important at least to introduce them to what we're after. August-September is looking right for hunting him regularly.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I also appreciate the opportunity to own and push a young dog with potential! He'll definitely have the chance to show us what he's got. He's just a pup now but he has shown lots of encouraging characteristics.

That looks like a great cross on smoke with Mr. Logan's female! Looks like smoke is breeding some very nice females and there ought to be some winning little babies out of those crosses!

Tim- did Wanda ever get bred? I know that you were planning on making that cross around the same time I got my pup from you. Just curious as i'm looking into the future to see what I might cross back on Clyde one day after he makes it to GrNt...

We injoyed having smoke here an you guys are strate shooters easy to work with (a little slow but thats a NY thing) an most of all Honest. Its Not to often you get to see TWO Power House Studs/Coondogs on the same tree with out a dog lead to keep them apart!!
