HUNT

Hunted for a little while last night. Been starting a 9 mth old pup and had him. He got alone and treed his first coon. Split with the meat is a good way to get started!! Matt Smith will be hunting this pup going forward. He is a double grandpup of my old Uchtmans Blue Lady gyp. Doubled up on Rambo II , Hawk , Rebel, Albert III, Ranger V, with a shot of B & D's Blue Spike. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!! Darren

Hunt

Went over to Arkansas last night to the white river refuge. Hunted with Mr Gary Uchtman. He hunted his fly gyp and a young Jobe pup. Fly will flat get thru the country and get treed. Gary's pup looked good as well. Hasn't been hunted much but split twice and had meat. My Major pup looked pretty good and got in on some fur. We had a great hunt. Great fellowship and some good dog work. Mr. Rubert Morgan hunted with us. Super nice guy and his bluedogs got a coon treed too. Look forward to going back. Picked up a Jobe x Magic male and man he is a picture perfect pup. Chuckle head and broad chested rascal. Y'all keep'em lookin up. Darren

I appreciate the compliments guys. I have a plan and hope it all comes together. There are lots of factors involved but I do have a plan. I have two young prospects that are treeing their own coon and are naturally independent. Hard going, with good mouths and good looks to boot.

Hey Rick , both Lady and Dixie are coming right along. Got their houses fixed up and put heat lamp in both so they wont burn unnecessary energy and calories trying to keep warm. Got both of them on DOG BLOOM vitamins, so I am doing what I can to control the elements. Hopefully I will get a couple of nice litters!! Hollar at me and we will get together for a hunt when you can!! Hope all is well with you and your family, Darren

Wet and cold

HUNT

Well, Drake and myself sure got wet last night. Raining and 38 degrees when we came back thru town. First drop we cut BB and my Blade pup. They left out and struck in at about 200yds. They worked an old track about 400 yds down a holler and BB got treed. She was on a small tree that ran into a pine tree. Couldn't find a coon. Next drop we cut Cotton and Blade. Cotton went about 350 yds and just fell treed. We got to her and she was on a huge den tree. We looked but couldn't find a coon on the outside. Blade wasn't there and I checked the Garmin. He was 300 yds down the bottom, alone as usual. He never got struck in and we drove around and caught him up. He is 13 mths old and is a dead loner. He will not back another dog and will just peel off and get to himself when you cut him. He can tree his own coon and when he gets a little more consistent, he will be tough. HUNT

Proud of my Blade pup Saturday night. Cotton treed up a den tree. Got out my Garmin and Blade was 300 yds over in the next holler. Started towards the truck and heard him just load up on the tree. Hammered the tree good but had lots of vines and still had some leaves on it. He may have missed but he thought it was there for sure. Treed with intensity and sounded good. He had been very accurate when he trees. Blade and his brother Stroker have both treed their own coon and both have split and held pressure. Blade is a dead loner. He has been aggravating to train, but it is starting to pay off. He hunts hard and will just split off from the other dogs and go his own way. Got a tough decision ahead on which one to let go!!
Good problem to have for sure. Been working on my pup pen for the last few days. Building a big puppy pen for these new pups I am planning to keep out of the upcoming litters. Repaired my old dog kennels and putting a large play area for the pups. I am very excited about the old blooded pups about to hit the ground at Southern Bluetick Kennels. Just don't see a lot of this blood out there anymore.

HUNT

Had a terrible hunt last night. First drop my nephew cut Rickett with David Gilberts Molly gyp that he bought from me. They struck a track and worked it about 800 yds across the hills and got treed. We got there and no coon seen. Next drop we cut Cotton and my pup Blade. Cotton struck a sorry track but moved it on out good. Loaded up and we got there and no coon seen. Turned all 4 dogs loose on last drop. All got struck and soon got treed except for Blade , he was trailing alone in bottom. We got to the tree and no coon seen. Cotton got a little adjustment at that tree. She hasn't missed but 3 or 4 times since I have had her and she missed twice in one night!! What the heck? Anyway we will regroup and hit it again. Hunted Monday night and tonight. Took my young males tonight. My Stroker male went 365 yds and got treed. We got to him and knocked it out. Good boar coon ate him up pretty good. He was fired up for sure. Could get him to stand still for the pic. Lol. Y'all keep'em lookin up. Darren

I think I finally have myself convinced that Hammer Head is bred to Logan and she will be having pups. She had been putting the weight on but now it looks as though her belly is getting bigger too.
