Glad to hear that Steve.Legend has definitely been putting some nice pups on the ground and been crossed on several different lines but he has been fortunate enough to be bred to some top females. These females deserve a lot more credit than they sometimes get. Thanks to everyone for giving him the opportunity to do his part and I hope you guys enjoy his offspring as much as I have....Thanks again fellas.

Hey you ole outlaw, I hope all is well. I'm tickled for Steve his gyp is coming on well for him. Legend has definitely put some good ones on the ground. Of the few I've been around, one trait I can say the old boy instills is the giddy up. Those rascals aren't afraid to go when hunted by themselves or with company.

I've been enjoying ole Tommy some as of late as well. That month he spent with David James being hunted sure didn't hurt him one bit. David is very humble, & when I picked him up he told me he didn't know if he did him any good or not. With the exception of 1 night, he has looked pretty good every night I have hunted him since I got him back from David. Been having something to look at in those trees . The night he looked like a turd I had met up with Wayne Crabtree & Jason Meyers while he was up from Alabama. We hunted the Fallsville Wildlife Area, Tommy decided he was going to pick that night to tree possums, slick tree, & just look plain goofy. We had a brief discussion on the possum deal One of those nights that makes you appreciate the good ones!

Take care old buddy!
Vic

Jason, aside from the overall Gr Nt Ch & Nt Ch winners, the scores weren't too high. I'm not sure where the hunt was held, but the northern part of the state has a little better coon population. It seems like when you cross north over the I-70 belt of Ohio, the coons are bigger & there are a few more of them. Even if they are thick, a dog still has to tree them, which is easier said than done. Lots of folks get caught up in what they read on the internet, & when they see "Ohio" they have grand illusions of coons in every tree, or every race being a short pop up. As you have witnessed first hand, that is not the case, especially if you hunt Gov't ground. I'm not a huge fan of hunting the Gov't ground around these parts. I've had far more poor hunts than good ones over the years while hunting it. Of course, that may have something to do with the lack of dog power, or a sorry owner that should hunt his dogs more! Even a lot of the private woods see a ton of hunting pressure. South central Ohio & Southeast Ohio in those hills you hunted in with Mike & Wayne have a much thinner population as well. We got some rain up this way too, so that sure hasn't hurt a thing either .

The Prodigy and Legend have both been looking pretty good.Really enjoying watching this young dog come to his own and the old man is starting to get a little muscle again, but he is starting to show his age a little. After the Oilfield 5000 hunt this weekend and PKC World Hunt next week,it will prolly be the last trip to town for the old man. He's gonna be 8,about blind in his right eye and has a bad front foot but I feel like I owe the old fella one more shot so we're gonna give it a whirl for old times sake.LOL.Legend has more than earned a spot out back here for the rest of his days a long time ago but hopefully he's got a few more cast wins left in him for next week.He will still be here for the public to see(I will still be pleasure hunting him some)and the young dog out of him if anyone is interested in seeing him or one off of him go.At 2 and 3 years old he was without a doubt,The best competition coonhound I've EVER unsnapped.Enjoy them when they're young and healthy guys.......they sure get old quick.

Hi Tom , Good luck at the Oilfield 5ooo and the PKC World hunt with Legend! I hope you two win them BOTH! I know that wishful thing but I also know that Legend is a Powerful hound and you are a top handler! You wont cheat them but you definately wont let them cheat you! I feel it was an honor to hunt with Legend when he was in his prime. Hearing him strike, drive a track and explode when he came treed was an awesome experience! Even if you dont win, I respect you choice to give him the chance! Take care, Billy.

best luck of Tom, i hope yall win them both. Legend was as an impressive of a dog as ive seen go.

Good to hear it Tom! He may not be what he was 5 years ago, but that old rascal will still make you smile more often than not!

Best of luck to both of you!

Tom!

Best of luck at those two hunts.I know this pup out of him has got me not even wanting to hunt her mother (Gr.Nt.Ch. TWILITE BLUE FOXY LADY, aka.FUTZ! ) We had a finale four hunt at our club for dogs that had done the most winning for the year with $1000 in the pot which she got 2nd &$200.Instead of crying over spilled milk I came home and grabbed Lou out of the kennel and went and treed two coon with her, next year she's going to win that thing!
