Ch. ‘PR’ Atomic Fireball’s the Man & Ch. 'PR' Atomic Fireball’s Little Annie

Some may wonder why breed these two Ch.'s together for hunting. They were good hounds for as little as they were hunted but were never put in a hunt becuase I was in college. Another good reason is they were higher old ACHA Reserve World Ch. GrNtCh. Fireball (former #1 Historical reproducer of 26 Nite Hunt titled hounds) blooded than any hound alive. Well the first time they got together it was by accident, my dad was watching them, while I was getting deployed. I only kept one and he was trailing on his own at 3 months and split treeing on his own at 5 months. These were the only two times I had him out due to getting deployed. When I got back from Iraq he got hit by a car right off. I saw then though this was a good early starting cross. So before they passed I did it one more time. To get my GrCh. Daisy female and Dozer. This cross being so tight has also led to them producing the same type of hounds in thier offspring. All of Daisy's pups are still very young under a year and a half and the most recent ones are just getting near 6 months while this will be Dozers first litter.

However, The last pup I kept has been trailing and treeing on his own since his first time to the woods at 4 months old. His half brother from the litter before was trailing and treeing bear at 5 months old.

In case some haven't seen the pattern... :)

What I am trying to do here is put out some very early starting hounds that do what they do naturally. This isn't something they have been taught or that they have been hunted so hard as to give them a leg up on another hound of the same age. They also aren't babbling, slick treeing, me-too idiots. You can win with ones like this if you like but I want a hound that strikes when it smells a coon, runs to catch (and will at times), that will tree on the right tree with a good solid locate and a steady chop. I'm breeding for naturally easy starting hounds that make good solid hounds that can win against the best, are built good enough to last a long time and that are bred tight enough to pass it on to thier offspring. I fully believe this cross is a good step in that direction.

Hey Steve

Sounds like its getting too hot down there. If anyone ever wants to see what dogs do out of your lines up north they can come here and see a couple go. Titles dont mean anything to us but bloodlines do. We have been starting to hunt a few different lines here within the last year here and will gladly show any dog anytime. Any dog has to be given a fair chance and not pushed so hard that the dog doesnt have a chance to grow on its own. Theres no doubt that the Dozer and Kitty litter will turn out. People look at titles all too often. Anyone wanting a good bred pup, dont overlook these. Take care

I'll probably drop it off myself and save ya a trip, unless you just want to make a a drive. If ya do I've got plenty of place to stay now. Got the flooring laid in our other bedroom this weekend. So now I have 3 bedrooms and 1 bath finished. Got to lay the flooring in the other bath and I'll have 2 finished bathrooms too.

Definately warm,

It's been pretty warm down here but not to bad yet. Luckily my wife's family came in this weekend and they were able to pick-up and put in the A/C for me too. Won't be long now and it won't matter much what the temp is. I'll be out for the summer from teaching and it'll be coonhunting time several times a week. That way if I can't move the next day from my neck issues it won't matter.

has turned very dark red in the last month or so. You wouldnt recognize him. He's ready for bear. Dozer and Queen are ready and I hope my back is better b4 2 long so I can get back in the woods. Got a new roof on and had to hire it done due to my back. Just have 2 put a new driveway in and everything will be new to help the sale of this place. Been hot a couple days here but in the low 50s at nite. Got all the dogs shots, wormed toenails trimmed along with flea baths to help them out for the summer. People laugh when we tell then we give them baths but they look better and are healthier than most. It sure pays to put a little xtra time in them. Take care.

Well he should make a sure enough show hound being built like he is and being that dark too. Nevermind him being the hound he is in the woods. Looks like he's going to be a true top end dual purpose hound. Well you know me with my hounds. Their use to taking baths in the tub and the house. They just lay down in there and let me give them a scrub down. Should be but another day or two and Kitty should be having those pups. She is big! Looks like she ate a pumpkin. Soot she might be up to the 20 pup mark on this litter. Sound like her first one is doing well and this one should too.

That would be fine but...

Kitty is due to have pups any day and will not have them off of her until the end part of July and by the time she dries up enough that I'd feel ok about taking her to the woods again it'll be around the first part of August. She'll be hunted hard at that point all the way until the Zones and World.

Sorry about that...

I got it cleaned out. I think it stays full more than it's not. The house phone is different now since we moved but my cell is still the same. Texting doesn't work to well for me though. If you are going to be down here a bit then you're more than welcome to go for a hunt. We can take Kitty and Joe out for a spin. In case you were wondering I don't turn Daisy loose with Kitty though becuase they get a little crazy trying to outdo each other. Joe hasn't been out to much due to the weather and Kitty becuase of pups but with Kitty it doesn't really matter. She's a coondog no matter what.

we have

a 1 year old out of Daisy and BO. Treed squirrels at 3 and 4 months daily up north. Treed his first coon by himself before 5 months old. Treed coon consistantly by himself at 6 to 9 months before deep snow set in. Has been on bear trees since months and treed very hard. Has treed a bobcat by himself . Smart as they come and expect him to be a top hound as a one year old as well as a cat hound. Already was and is a coon dog at less than 1 year. Cold nosed track driving treeing machine. Only saw him not finish 1 track. Has not slick treed yet. Has not touched trash yet. This summer he will get run every day on bear. He will be a big game hound. Very dark red and a Fireball head. He has been rigging since 4 1/2 months old. Is here for anyone to see him hunt anytime. He is no wonder dog but for a pup he has a good chance to become a great one. Is not and never will be for sale. He was bred to be a hunter and producer, thanks to Steve and Angie Bell. He will be breeding a good female next spring. This is not bragging but just plain facts. After this summer I HOPE to be doing some bragging on him. We have 2 other dogs we got from Steve and both are GOOD dogs. One is Kid Rocks uncle Dozer. If he tells you something, its just the plain old truth.

Have two from that litter also.

I have a male but the hounds in my other kennel all got something that destroyed their voices. All of them couldn't even bark for a while. I have never seen anything like it. The male I kept hunts very well and will trail and tree some but he hasn't got his voice back since last year so he hasn't been to the woods for hoping rest would get it back same for the Lightinin X Speed Queen pup I have. She is getting it back he's not. His sister got over it fairly soon. She has been out some and trailed and treed her own coon first time out hunting on a long hunt at like 7 months old. She has trailed and treed several others but hasn't been out enough to finish out. The one I kept from Daisy's last litter is Joe and he trailed and split treed, on his own, first time to the woods at 4 months old. Basically, she is producing a good number of very early starting pups that are naturals from the start. Her oldest are just hitting over the year old mark and even pups are doing what many older dogs won't.

We hunted the Fred Dog lastnight & Steve this a GREAT CROSS due to my health problems Fred has'nt been hunted but about 3 times this year & let Robbie Ewry tell ya what he thinks of him,this young hound is something else for his age & not being pushed Im paying Robbie to help me with him,he's a litter mate to your gip off Light'in Xs Queen.

I spoke with Joe Melton today & we will be working on a great cross we both fell like before to long looking forward to making it.

If Braxton only was old enough to know what he has Steve, theres been a time I would have give almost anything to have a young dog like RED FRED.

Keep me posted on Sis hope she gets better.

She is getting hers back but my male I think is a hopeless cause. Hers was real loud but is not as strong now but I can hear her. It's a shame with the male he was super loud but he was down to nothing. It came back from there to a squeack but hasn't really got much better than that. A hunting dog isn't worth much if he can't bark. Maybe, I should sell him to someone in town who likes to show. He's super nice built but I kept holding on hoping he would get over it. I wanted to hunt him.

Sorry to hear

about the pups voices. We had a couple lose their voices after getting into something but it came back. They might have strained their vocal cords and that would take awhile for their voices to come back. And porky quills will damage the cords as long with anything sharp that they try to swallow. Darn pups get into everything and dont know any better..I guess Dozer got loose the other nite. He went into the barn while they were milking and just hung around till they put him back. It was getting close to dark and maybe he was trying to tell them lets go hunting. I'll be hitting the woods this next weekend and give my back a tryout. The worst is riding in a vehicle. Just a coule weeks till bear season and will keep you posted on how the BIG DOZER will be doing as well as Kid Rock and Queen. We have decided to breed Queen next year and will have a tough decision on who to breed her to. We have Ciscoe IV so it will be between Dozer and Kid. I was thinking of breeding Dozer to Queen and keeping a female for Kid to breed to in the future and also picking up a female Fireball female and breeding Kid to her. Any thoughts? Annie will be bred to Jabo as we like that line also. All this talk about dogs is driving my wife mad. LOL

Or were they both together. Not to suprising they'll do some strange things sometimes. Well like last year when Daisy decided one night to run a possum one night. I'll try to give a call today. Been roaming around and very busy. Dozer lost his voice too. However, he got most of his back. He was louder than he is now though for sure. As you know my wife works for a vet but it was like some kind of virus. I've never had anything like that before. Got a new ride yesterday. It's a Subaru Forester AWD I'll post some pics of it later. Getting 30+ mpg. These things are also set-up right the opposite of most everything else as the wheel that has grip pulls not the one without grip like everything else on the road. It also has right at the ground clearance of a 1/2 ton 4x4 truck. Getting a light aluminum dog box to put in the back. It'll be my new ride for the hunts. Getting that kind of gas milage in something that'll still go through the mud is going to be nice.

Dozer hadn't been out since I had him in a while but I didn't see him doing that. He has always been straight. In fact I've never seen him run trash but a few armadillos when he was first getting going. If you decide to breed him and Queen I might have to talk my wife into letting me get one of those. That'd be alot of Fireball there too.

think Kid ever saw a skunk before and there's little foxes all over the farm now. I go to the dens and the little buggers peek their heads out to watch you. They are about 18 inches in total length right now. We dont mess with the foxes but will shoot every skunk we see. I never saw a dog that didnt run some kind if trash one time or other. A few more days till bear season and just hope I can make it to the trees. Its going to be tough to do and everything is flooded again. Its going to be a fun time with these young dogs. I just hope there isnt many porkies. I'd rather the dogs get swatted by a bear than grab a porky. Dozer and Queen should make a good cross and would be ready for next year American days. They will be a big leggy cross. My brother and I have a bet on whos going to be faster. My bets are on Queen and Dozer along with Kid. Hes betting on the Plott cross and a little female Plott. These Red dogs are fast and will drown out others at the tree. I dont think there is any way the others will keep up with the Red dogs.
