Paul - that looks more normal to me, standing belly up on the tree not at the base ! I grew to hate those double trees hunting my origanal female and her mother out of House's Chief and Kentucky Judy, you would see the males belly up on the tree, and miss those two way on up in the trees . Both would climb a normal tree, but with the doubles they would put hind feet on one trunk and front feet on the other and go just as high as they could stretch. Nothing like walking in and getting flattened by a 75 lb dog dropping out on you. The strange thing was they would make a sound just before the came down, the dogs at the base would spread out giving them landing room.... they always landed like a cat on their feet, strange critters.

JD- You are right, I knew 3 of them, Ben, Stubby and my old buddy had Daisy. That I guess was the last litter out of House's Chief. I heard Joel talk about your grandfather a lot, probably met him down there as it seems one of the times Ben was around, a person name Joe had brought him in. Ed Reeves had Daisy, named her Chestnut Creek Daisy, big open marked ticked up black headed female ..... as she had only one eye, just a red socket showing where the eye had been , EVIL would be a good discription at first sight. I started with a pup out of Daisy by House's Hank, got her brother when he was 6 months old. That line treed before ever running first track, at 4 month if the old dogs treed every pup would light out and join in, no matter how deep they where. Even the pups out of Maggie did the same thing, and have seen it for a few generations now. Joe House ended up with Daisy and changed her name to House's Daisy, which messed up ACHA papers. He bought up all Maggie's littermates that he could find, and I got used to telling him that he couldn't have Maggie or Reb, for the next 8 years. I even got used to having Joe tag along on a cast if he wasn't running a dog that night.

Maggie and Reb are both buried in the yard at the house their collars are still hanging on the wall at the barn . Maggie died in 1984 at 7 years, Reb lived to be 12 years old . Nothing like getting the news your wife's expecting, and finding your dog dead in his house all on the same day.

That would be an emotional tornado I would think. Did you get any pups out of them?

Grady - Tink is one of Maggie's great great great somethings, she's in the makeup. There was a litter out of Reb and a niece, a littermate of Lightning's, The ones that lived made dogs, I know that for a fact when they ran a couple in on me .... I found out later what was pulled. They had 2 coming out of Reb and threw in a grandson of Maggie's into the mix . Reb was getting 1st strike and tree but there was seconds between them all instead of the normal times I was used to in competetion hunts. As many win slips I had filled out with the names, I didn't know until 2 kids told me about having dogs with my old hounds in their pedigrees, that it dawned on me.
The bad thing is they didn't breed the dogs, as they figured they could never get one like them, I wish they had as I have seen the same exact things generation after generation, and didnt have to make close cross to do it . For some reason the line stayed stable, didn't have the wild swings like you get with some lines. They normally treed before ever running, had 4 month old pups leave out to get in on a tree without being worked with the first time. I guess Joe was right when he got on to me for asking how to break off deer ahead of time .... "Boy don't do it, get that strike on a deer or rabbit, there is enough tree bred into them dogs that they will stop and tree the first coon they cross , that the way to make Champions". I have gone through 6 generations I hunted and bred, have one with dogs in 4th- 6th generation another with them in the 5th- 7th , that I bought instead of bred, and have yet to see one pay any attention to a rabbit. I Haven't even had to worry about deer either, except for calling dogs in and the dumb things trying to run over me as the dogs come in. Anybody know where to buy batteries for the original tritronics 70, as they have died without me ever getting to use it, who knows maybe someday I might need it .

Glenn, I can't help you with the battery thing maybe radio shack or one of these guys that build lights might could order one.
What side of Tink would maggy of come up from?
What stud would get me back the closest I can get?

I just noticed my pup goes back to a world champion call Jimmy D's Handsom Hank. You ever heard of him?

Grady - seems that I have heard of Hansom Hank past few years it sound like Tink has enough lines to go forth and multiply with good results. My old dogs Maggie , her daughter Lightning and her daughter Roxy are coming in on Xjr pedigree or I guess you could say the non insane side of the insane line on Tink. With all the deleting a person don't want to say certain names, as I would hate to see this one vanish. One of the dogs out of Nocturnal Skipper or even Nocturnal Tipper would be the closest now, as the last male out of the cross I made on Skipper with Maggie's grandaughter died last year at 14 years old. The bad thing was I had a female in heat when the old boy said he was showing his age. I told him if he wanted a pup, a female would be ready in a day or two, said that he didn't think he could do anything, so there went his chance and all the crosses I had made in one dog. I guess thats the difference in a person that breeds his stock and someone who gets a pup, It might have killed him, but it would have been a better way to go than the vet firing in a fatal dose.

Tom - I sure hope you have a little luck and get a call, all these deleted posts don't do much for PR ..... It's downright boring without folks picking on you about a dog named ******
