I think I will ride over to a ukc hunt in Fayette and hear a dog run tonight. I'm not sure if my buddy will be able to make it with Dragon tonight. I just need to see and hear some hound work.

It was good sitting in the truck and hearing the hounds work. I sure do miss walking to the trees and seeing the meat. Someday if all goes well maybe I will be at it again. Dragon is ready but I'm not. I need a handler close by that isn't afraid to tree and knows the rules.

There is plenty hunts in March. I hope to get Dragon in a few and maybe get lucky to finish him to Nite ch. Time will tell. I hope to get a handler for him so he can go win a few. I hope.

Well I got a chance to go see him Sunday and he is fat and sassy. Scott isn't going to be able to get him to the hunts this Spring so I will bring him back to Charlie Wyatt's home so I have access to him to maybe get a handler or two. Scott told him that Dragon has been a pleasure to hunt. He didn't tree a slick tree or possum. He either had the meat or a den tree. He and his nine year old loved hunting him for me. I hope he can make a few hunts this spring.

No luck at the hunt this past weekend

Dragon was in it till the end and he decided he would try his hand in treeing a yellow house cat. He isn't perfect but he can get it done. I guess this past year he had been turned loose only 5 times in 2016 because of my surgery and health. I hope after going to Mayo Clinic next month they can fix me and get me back in the game. If I can get Dragon hunted up he will be a force to recon with. The tools are there to build something very nice with him. Time will tell.
Mean while I will work on me getting better. Maybe Dragon and I both can make a splash in the future.
Most people won't put negative stuff about their hounds the want to stud but we all know they are not perfect and neither am I.
I know dogs and I know what I have in my kennel that I believe in.
Dragon is till 2 years old and basically missed a year of being hunted. That's okay by me. We will make it happen in the woods and stud pen.
Thanks Jeff for hunting him in the hunt. Thanks you Charlie Wyatt for keeping him in your kennels while I get better. Also all me friends who try to help me at this time getting my dogs and myself back in the game. I won't quit I love it to much to give up. All I can do is sit and listen in the truck and be truck man at this point.

I have a product in Dragon worth advertising !!!!!!!!!!

Hunted last night

Charlie handled Dragon and Josh Hoffman and Target and a walker female.
First drop didn't go well at all for Dragon so we will needs some 101 training.
Second drop we turned Dragon and the Walker female loose. He went down a draw about 110 yards they opened and in 3 barks Dragon was treed. He has lost some volume to his voice he needs something to help get that loud mouth back I'm use to. Anyway they had the meat
3 drop he made a circle and started to come in I got on to him and he didn't make a bark in that ditch at all. We had cut the other two loose and they treed but he didn't tree with them.
We drove around looking with that ? mark I had in my head and found what we thought. Turned Dragon loose and gave him some 101 treatment and came home.
I will get him right like he was at a year old. He is smart and learns fast.
I may try it a few more night if my buddies want to take him and I listen from the truck,

It wasn't a great night but Dragon got turned loose alone he made two trees one a den and the other he beat the coon to the tree which doesn't happen and it is rare. I'll give him that one. I will get him lined out right and like he was and even better I hope. It is also therapeutic for me just to go and listen to my own hound working. It beats sitting in the house watching TV and wishing my dog could be in the woods. It helps me forget about the pain I'm in for a moment.
Dragon has so much to offer and I want him to win so bad. I know he can't do that unless he is hunted and tuned up right.

Well Dragon had a crappy weekend at two hunts. I have got to get him lined out again.
Time will tell. This 10 points is harder than I thought. He was and will be a dog I thought in my mind that will be able to win anywhere I take him. Right now he is not. So back to the work in progress. If you would have told me he lost two cast in a row I would have thought you were pulling my leg.
I think I will get things turned around.

Dragon will be and is still my future stud dog. He has Rambo II, Bullet, Hornet, RC x Jenny, Jaggs, Utchman Clyde and Utchman Fly, Smokey River Chief, BO BO, Rambo III, He has the pedigree and early starting tools.

Got out for a bit

Thanks Terry for going to get my dog. We did get a coon treed a den and a slick. I did a little breaking and came home. Dragon seems to have found his mouth back. I hope it stays back for sure.

I bet I fell at least 5 times just standing on uneven ground. I'm not even close to walking in the woods. It's killing me not to be able to go to my dog so I can work with him myself.

Ticks are out. Time for tick spray and cattle tags on your dogs. Terry pulled a tick off last night.

Have a great comp hunt season.

People who know me and don't for that matter. I demand a lot from my dogs and I work hard to breed and train them that way. I did a article in the BBCHA Bluebook 2011 under Breathless Blueticks. It will let you know my background and some of which I have bred and trained. I won't use the excuse of to hot, to dry, to wet, moonlite night, snow, frost, to early to late. rut season. I expect and demand that my dogs I'm hunting to tree a coon if he is walking or sitting up sleep. I they trash I will break them but I won't keep a hard headed dog. I want smarts and natural ability. Easy learners.
I know dogs are going to mess up and the quicker I get on the problem the sooner the problem is fixed. All of our dogs have something we would change in way or fashion. I just plain don't want to be embarrassed when I take my dog to a hunt or a pleasure hunt. I want to add what is going to fit my style of hunting and competing. I like a athletic hound with size and mouth big locate. I don't care if it bawls or chops on the tree. I want them to show me the money. Coons are hard to find if they aren't there. People we need to breed for accuracy that is how you win honestly.
Anyway I have work to do on my own hounds but all for the better good.
Know the back ground of the dogs you are breeding to not just because they are Grand and Nite champions look deeper.
If my dog can't tree coons year around he or she has no place at my home period. No dog has ever been scolded for treeing a coon keep that in mind.

Dragon turned 3 years old Saturday. If I were healthy he would have been Nite champion and possibly Grand nite ch by now. I like this dog.

Just showing Dragon some love. As for me I'm still waiting on Mayo Clinic to come up with a solution or there will be some major surgery in the future for me. I'm hoping I get answers before that happens. I've been down and I don't want that path anymore. This trying to recover is better than well you know. I will be back someday to push my dogs and hopefully be me again.

Thanks for the great fellowship and warm prayers that was given to me at the reunion. There were people there that I haven't seen in 25 years. I was great catching up.
Congrats to all the winners and people who tried to compete and no luck. The things is that you were there and you and your dog competed. That makes you a winner.

This waiting game sucks. A mind is a terrible thing to waist. I guess no news is good news. I just want to be fixed so I can hunt again and dance. I'm not asking for much. Time will tell.
