6 Again

Joe- I deleted some messages so maybe the thing will take a pm now. How do you know when you get one? Perhaps mine is not set up to alert me when one is posted? Heck I learn something everyday about this thing. Couple of good bred females getting bred to Jef Timm's Iron Will II. Good luck to Steve and Dan with your litters. Hunted with Bobby, Micheal and Mathew Carter last night. Mathew is in the Air Force and stationed in Nebraska-says he sees some well fed coons beside the road out there. He had his "jacket" he wears on duty. I picked it up -could not believe how heavy it was. He was surprised at me thinking it was heavy and asked me what mine weighed? Back then in the Corps all we wore was a utility jacket-same thing you see me wearing in pictures on here and at hunts now. Like when my females stay in sinc with nature and her changes-with Spring arriving expect these females to start in heat. Good luck to all of you and try to enjoy what you have-if you don't or can't-go get you something you do or will. We got so excited about Spring we wet our Plants!

Thank You

Performance checks from UKC were in the mailbox yesterday. Thanks to all of you who are hunting dogs out of these Jet bred Purina fed hounds. Wish you an even better year in 2012!

We had to break back out our long sleave shirts and lite coats last night, did not think we would be needing them again until November. Everything cooperated too- even the coons. We treed two singles in short order and in spite of this day light savings time. The Indians said only the white man would change his clock and think he had changed time some how. Appreciate the calls and questions about these dogs. Wish each and everyone of you out there good hunting and good luck in the hunts!

Cochran, Ga. had a UKC Hunt last night. I had stayed up till 4a.m. the night before, did not get much sleep and wondered was it wise to even go. Bobby Carter called with the -ah lets go -you'll feel better when the sun goes down. Nothing serves to perk you up like winning your cast, which we were fortunate to do last night. Nt Ch Gr Ch Blue Bio May Flower (Gr Nt Jet 5 Again X Gr Nt Ch Blue Bio Blue Flower) picked up a win last night. She has looked a whole lot better before and not won-but a win is a win right ! I have heard about Dan and John's breeding plans along with Joe's-Scott and I have talked about some possibilities in the future. What about Eric? And where has Slough been-seriously hope everyone is OK-just have not heard from of late. Dave Gardin is another one who I hope gets some females bred this year. PM or call if you prefer-like I have said before I'll be your Number 1 cheerleader.

Enjoying the reading with not much going on hunting wise down here.

John is saying good things bout his pups off Buzz and the last time I spoke with Ed and Scott I was being asked to send some more up there way. The ones I had sent are doubled up 6 Again grand pups. Slough aren't you gonna be busy with a hunt this weekend? Hope you get to participate-know you make them happen down there. Eric cashing the check and wanting more-well go out there, win and make them have to pay you more and that is straight from the orginal home of Team Blue-Right Here in Macon, Ga. That way they will be forced to send me more too!

Ed Mead

Please include Ed in your prayers. It has not been that long since many of you had him on your prayer list, our friend is facing another battle, right now he has once again weathered the storm. Those of us who wish for this man, our long time Bluetick breeder and supporter a complete recovery, please do so now. As more news is forthcoming myself or someone from up there will make it available to you--THANK YOU.

Know that Ed will appreciate so many of you calling to see about him. Some unrelated good news. Jacob Webb, along with his father Johnny paid me one of those late night phone calls. Jacob who is about 14 I think won 1st place reg. last night with Gr Ch Blue Bio 6 Again's Big Boy. Jacob is the young man who won King of Hunt Zone 6 a couple of years ago. Big Boy is out of 6 Again X Nt Ch Notchaway Blue Ticker, a littermate to Jet 8. With any luck at all we should be able to add Big Boys name very soon to the ever growing list of champions of Gr Nt Ch Mead's Blue Jet 6 Again,a great among greats that belong to our good freind Ed Mead.

Had a good conversation by phone with Ed the other day. We were hoping to find Reject a ride to Black n Tan Days. I have Reject a ride to Macon, if not then Bluetick Days for sure. Also spoke with Jeff Timms, this too was a great conversation and one I came away feeling even better having spoken with Jeff about his hounds-Results indicate that this man knows what he is doing-one of many who are going down the right track. Just out of couriosity-How many of you who have had your dogs DNA Analysis done have bothered to find out what the report says? Genetics is a tool that can and often does work for the dog breeder regardless of whether the individual understands it's principles or not--That is why I have said on more than one occasion that many people have been successful inspite of themselves. Don't invent new terms like 'Scatter Bred"-take the time to understand how thinks work and good luck to you all.

CW,

Doubt it would help, but I will be running up to Knoxville on Saturday afternoon.

Thanks Chris-I may just have to drive up there-it has been to long since I have been back up. Seven years ago I got a pup from Tony Poole, Chris and Casey's Uncle. Darin, who hunted with us, fell in love with her. He had never owned a hound and I let him have her. She has spent the majority of her life with Bubba, my hunting buddy, maturing into a no nonsense coon dog. Last night Annie won 1st place in the 1st night hunt she has ever been in at the ripe old age of 7. Good luck for some good people and a good hound. Annie's sire is Tony's Ruger dog. Sometime today I get the pleasure of handing Darin or Bubba this yellow slip of paper from UKC. One of you Pooles tell Tony-he'll know which one it is!

Coonhound Bloodlines Vol. 39, Issue 5 pg. 124- fellow Bluetick enthusiast Guy Ormiston shares with us through his monthly column a wealth of knowledge and history served up with his own brand of South Western humor. This latest article resonates with me. I took my first coon hunts in the 1950,s and have had my own hounds since the 60's. All along still have looked upon my bunch as the young crowd or at most the next generation that have stuck with it. They took me with some gray hair and shoved me under the bus along with a lifetime achievement award. I crawled back out, took my rearview mirror stuck it in my pocket and went off in a better direction. To any new or younger hunters in this sport I say this--Tracking Systems are great but don't pull the thing out as soon as you turn the dog loose-you are not going to learn about coon hunting and your hound that way. Wear out at least two pair of hip boots, just do it! There is no substitute. Things will eventually begin to make sense to you-the whole picture. Trust me you will not find that staring at that little screen in your hand-put it in your pocket and go Coon Hunting-you might enjoy it!
