Just got

off the phone with my nephew. Him and his hired hand had Dozer & Queen out last night and treed a quick one. My nephew says he never heard 2 dogs tree like they did. He's had coondogs for over 10 years and was really excited. Says they were throwing out chops faster than you could count Queen was with Dozer the whole way. They are on their way Steve. Thanks again. They are handling better also. They get to run loose for awhile everyday and get handled on the leash also. I guess Dozer just had to get out more often to handle better. Headed over there for wet hunt tonite and Friday. There's so much water everywhere that I cant even use the Polaris 6X6 without getting stuck. I'll make sure I have the camera along. Will keep U posted.

Just got in

from hunting Dozer & Queen. Hit the Blueberry marsh. What a mess. Had my nephews friends old dog along. Treed 3 with Dozer and Queen doing it right also. 3rd one was in the middle of the bog. If you've never walked in a blueberry marsh, you dont know what you are missing. Its a floating bog. Dont know how many times our feet went thru. Tried calling the dogs back without luck. We dont usually hunt it cuz of the bear living in there but with all the water the bear must of moved. Dogs are tired but did good. They will get me in shape. A friend was on TV who lives close to there. Had wolves drinking out of the horses water tank and footprints up by the house. They chewed up his horses awhile back. Gonna put bells on the dogs from now on and will have to put lighted collars on. Take care and will see you at Red days.

Dozer and Queen

Good to here they are doing well for ya so far. They really just needed to be out of the pen. Queen I don't know as much about but Dozer is one that should have been a finished hound a long time ago. It's just with my restrictions, from Iraq, I can't risk pulling something and having my neck fused to my backbone before I'm even 40. That'd pretty well end me being able to look up trees. No we don't have bogs like that but what we do have is quick sand in some of the swamps. It'll suck you, a hound, cattle, horses, etc... down under and the more you move the deeper you go. Had some behind our old house when I first started coon hunting. My dad made me a grapple so I could throw it when I got struck and pull myself out.

Now that might be a show for sure. I think he could take one. Several, well sounds like he might get his shot. The important thing to me is he is finally getting to hunt.

Rain Rain Go Away Along with the Storms

My hounds have enough nose to smell when it's dry but this is getting crazy. It has been a little dry but to go from that to floods and tornandoes is a bit much. O well guess that's what we get for being in Ark.

Got Kid out

and treed some more along with Dozer and Queen. Kid is considered one of the the older dogs now. Sure is doing a good job. Hard to believe he is just turned a year old. He still loves to play till it's time to hunt and then it's all business. Brought Chief along and he treed some with the big dogs. With those 3 trailing it sounds like a freight train. We got so much rain theres no place that is even close to being dry. There wont be anymore hunting by the bogs or any other swampy place. Hope to see you at Red days. Also hope to get you up here to chase some bears with us. Say hi to Angie for us. Take care

Flooded

I hear ya Dave things have yet to get dry enough around here for me to even burn a big pile of trees and limbs I have from the place. Normally, dead trees burn well but not when it has done nothing but rain for days. My wife says she thinks we're going to become a tropical rain forest.

Drying Up

Well things are getting better around here but not for the Miss. River valley. If it doesn't flood any more I think I'll take Kitty and the Twister pup, Joe, out this week some. Trying to knock the dust off of Kitty and if she looks right I'll be heading to the Ark. State hunt. Might even show Daisy but the hunt is what I'm after. I haven't got long to hunt her till the pups will be on the way.

Don't forget

to watch out for the serpant. It may be disguised as something different but is still the same serpant under that cover. Kid is up north this weekend. We'll start roading him on a regular basis this week. This summer is going to be different with all these young dogs. As long as none get killed or hurt bad it will be a success. We have 2 kill tags for ourselves and maybe 2 pay hunters. A guy backed out of a payhunt last year and where we would of had him sit over the bait and a bear over 700 lbs. was killed by someone else. This was a area where no dogs were allowed and was 30 minutes from my brothers. If you want to apply for a Mich. tag nows the time to do it. Alsosending a PM. Talk to you later.

I am hoping to get Kitty out we'll see what she looks like after sitting around. I just like to let them settle in on their pups well before I hunt them at all. Of course down here if the heat gets up then that will also come into play. If it gets very hot I don't hunt them much either if they are pregnant. Either way I should be able to get Joe out. We'll see if he gets treed again this time, 2 for 2 so far. It's sure exciting to see all the early starting naturals coming out of Daisy.

I think I'm going to go ahead and pefomance sire Dozer, since he seems to be clicking. Sure going to be interesting to see if he is producing hounds that trail and tree at 4 months or earlier like Daisy is.

if you will have a xtra female from Daisy. Gotta get a pup out of Dozer. LOL Good job with the breeding. I just hope he doesnt get killed this summer. He will be one that wont let the bears climb and will keep pulling them out of the trees.

I meant a pup off Dozer and Kitty. Dozer is still getting alot better on the leash and I'm glad of that. I still cant believe how strong he is. In over 40 years of having hunting dogs I've never seen one even close to being as strong as him. Going to try and get him tonite. Queen is doing good also and they both get to run around on the farm for awhile each day. Going to expand their kennels this weekend. They are in single run kennels and we are going to turn them into double runs. Drying up down there yet? Kitty showing any signs yet? Take care.

I figured that's what you were talking about. I was thinking well you already have one off Daisy. Yes Kitty is for sure pregnant. I don't know how many but she is getting pretty big. The ground is drying up but it is also getting pretty warm now. So I am a little scared of turning her loose for long, after last night. I took Daisy, Lilly and Joe out and they ran two. One ran into a big vine clump a little over head high, 50 yds. long, by 15 yds. wide and disappeared into it. The other one went up pretty quick. After this both of them were very hot and Joe wouldn't tree for the first time. It was hot and humid. So especially, since Kitty gets out of pocket like she is capable of doing bigtime I think I will turn her out some to tree one or so but then carry her back home. She would go all night, pups or not, but I just don't want to loose them pups.

Kid

will get out tonite. Mike will be at the cabin and you know what that means. LOL He was up there the beginning of the week and came back to turkey hunt. I'll be taking care of the dogs so they will get out to tree a couple coon. Depending on who comes with me will depend on how many I take. Kid is so fast and can outrun most all of them since he's been out more. Next time we get together I'll have to have Kid along. Can't hardly wait to see him and Dozer on their first bear in just a few. We will be putting a new roof on in a couple weeks and will sell this place and move next summer. Found 9 acres and will have to build a place. A place the size of yours is what I want. To me thats the perfect size. Will be putting up a large indoor outdoor kennel attached to a shed(garage). I have to wait till the roof is done here before I head to the cabin for a long stretch. Make sure you apply for that Mich. bear tag. If you dont get a tag this year it helps for the following years as you build up preference points. I forgot to ask you, when I get a mount started for you what kind do you want? Bear, wolf, cat? Full mount or rug? I do have a nice black wolf waiting for me to work on. I think I have a bobcat and coyote laying around also. Hope to have a Mt. Lion this winter. I have 3 bear and a deer and a few fish people want done and will have to get working on them as soon as they pay their deposits. Say hi to Angie for us. Take care, Dave

Glad both Dozer and Queen seem to be working out as well as they are for ya. You should have some nice Fireball blood for a while with what you have now.

Definately Preg.: 33% Fireball pups

Not sure how many she is going to have. Each hound carries them a little different. The reason I haven't really advertised or pushed them yet is I have been to busy. Still moving in and cleaning up around our new house. I haven't even been hunting much. Around here if ya don't get things cleared the by the last part of Spring then it grows up so much that you really can't do much with it until the Fall. Anyways back to the hounds. They shouldn't be to much and should be some nice ones. It just didn't work out with Reddy. I made the trip but couldn't get them together. As you know though both Kitty and Dozer are bred super nice. These pups will end up also being about 33% Fireball which is a good bit closer than a grandson or granddaughter.

She got this as a reg. hound beating out two NtCh.'s and a GrNtCh. that got 4th. in the UKC World Hunt. She hunts pretty hard and will go as deep as needed but as close as possible to get treed. She's has treed in competiton anywhere from 10 ft. to 3 miles from me. She will get her own if possible and some of everyone elses as long as it's right. I would say she's about 90% accurate or better. Other than one competiton hunt we went to where all the hounds looked crazy. Other than that I have only had two times since I have had her where I thought something wasn't there but they were both legitamate circle trees. She will be finished to GrNtCh. as long as nothing happens to her to cut that short. Me and some friends of mine got 12 coons with her and two young hounds in about 4 hours the first time I took her hunting. Here is her PED. She's about 22% Fireball.

Dozer has a ton of drive and hunts hard, what I would call, medium by himself and deep with company. He is one of those hounds that leaves no stone unturned in his search for Mr. Ringtail. If a coon is anywhere near he isn't going to miss it. He is also very loud. I have had several people who were legally deaf want to know what kind of hound he was becuase they could hear him for a mile+. He'll come in and stay when called and told to but is a beast on the lead. He's 100lbs. of pure musclar pulling power. Several have never seen any dog pull so hard. He is extremely strong & tuff and is one of those hounds you can't run down. I normally teach a hound to lead like, I like once I start hunting them hard. He had never been hunted hard though becuase right as I got to start hunting him I started having a lot of troubles from injuries I recieved in Iraq with the Army in downtown Baghdad. At this point I am restricted to not lifting over 25lbs. So obviously Dozer is way outside of that, one hunt with him will have me laid up for a week. This is the reason he went to my friend in Wisc. Dave. He is now being hunted and is treeing coons regular. However, he is going to be used on bear so I am not telling that he is going to have a ton of hunting titles but he is a good hunting hound that will hopefully be put in enough hunts to get a NtCh title. Im sitting

here with a couple herniated disks not doing much. Have to give myself a couple weeks to recover. The lower back ones got screwed up cuz Ive been doing more than I should have. Anyway The lady who does paintings for me owes me a free one. If you have a pic of a favorite hound, send a pic and she can get one painted up.
