You know the drill though, they may be duds in the woods.... Time will tell.

You're right...It's just a waiting game now. I am hoping to turn woody loose in the next night or so. What have you heard on his pups performance so far?

Lee,

To be quite honest I don't know much about what Woody has produced... I'm not sure there are many on the ground either. I bred to Woody because I have a female that suits me in many departments, but, she (IMO) needed a lil more horsepower when you cut her loose, & to be a bit more of an independent hunter. Again, to suit me. I hunted with his littermate Scout a few times, & he has hunt to burn & is really independent, & accurate. I've never hunted with Woody either, but have ppl whose opinion I respect tell me that he would absolutely get in the country "quick". Throw in the fact that he is a good looking, athletic dog, that also came from a cross that produced several with a alot of fire. I needed to add some go, so I bred to a titled & performance paid up hound that came from a litter with plenty of "go" & independence.

Add to the mix that I'm a fan of Smokey River breeding, & both his parents are loaded with it both top & bottom. The female I bred is out of Dancers younger brother, so good or bad, it added Chief x Punkin cross in there 2 more times pretty close.

That sounds logical to me too on the cross. I sure hope he will prove himself in the stud pen. He is about to get back in the timber and I will keep it posted of his performance.

Hey Lee, I'd like to get your input and opinion about breeding our Jazz female to Bullet II. I had thought about breeding her to our Grand Nite Blazin' Bull or maybe even Dave Deans Hammer XIII but I'm not sure what I'll do just yet. She just weaned a litter of pups recently so I'm going to let her get back in shape before I breed her but I'm trying to look forward at my options. She's a COON DOG and appears to be a pretty nice reproducer.
Thanks for your time and input.

Hey James ....it sounds like she would cross good with about anything. If Bullet II is still around and doing good when she comes in just bring her down if he is what you decide on.

I started to scroll all the way down Donnie but I knew you would have lost a breath if I had!!! He's doing fine. Now we need to let the old fellar know that he is owned by someone, it's not a priveldge, it's a fact! He needs some barnyard comeers but he's fine. I think you will be very proud to own him.

I am looking forward to seeing this hound also Donnie. As soon as the weather levels out Woody and I will be in the woods if I feel like it or not.

Given the fact I have never hunted with him, nor do I know how he will reproduce he sure fits the part with his looks. No he isn't dark and yes he is monkey faced(just the way I like them) but he looks like a hound should. I certainly have high hopes for him in the woods and in the stud pen.

It's very easy to look back and wonder what might have been if he had been advertised, but looking into the future I can say that if he lives up to his name in the woods, and puts some nice pups on the ground, there will be semen stored. It would be wise to store some now actually. Sure wish he had a III at the end of his name!

On behalf of Donnie and Myself, we would like to thank Kevin Gilliam for the opportunity and challenge of owning this hound. Kevin has been a good friend of mine in the Coonhunting world for many years, and I know it will conitnue for years to come.

Nt. Ch. Horse Creek Dizzy

Thanks to you and Trey for filling me in on Dizzy. I just talked to Excel and he remembers her as his littermate sister....
Good Luck with your new dog Woody! Love the name. Coyotes gave me fits last night, I am going to run Excel with young dogs from now on for added protection.

Excel told me their was Lucky, Ace, and Dizzy, just 4 from that litter, total.

GRCH GRNTCH 'PR' FROG BAYOU WOODROW

I finally had the chance to take Woody out last night. With the company of Matt Davis and his hound Snowman, as well as my dad Roger, we seen some good work overall from the hounds. I liked what I heard and saw of Woody but would need more nights in the woods with him to really pick at him.lol.

That being said, Matts hound (Snowman) done a fine job on a coon by himself and Woody would later get one by himself.

All together a nice hunt and below is a picture of Woody on the last drop of the night.
