He is looking good. I set my trap out here at the dumpster where I work trying to catch Mace a coon but all I caught was a big ole tomcat!LOL Got a friend whos got a slight coon problem at his house, hes gonna try to catch me one tonight. That is very promising Maverick, keep him in the wood.

When we had the one in the trap, I waited til Andrew could fool with Summit on it, bc she is a bit timid of me, for some reason. He showed it to her Saturday morning and she jumped away from the cage as soon as she heard it growl at her. We covered it with a towel and let her sniff at it some more and she loosened up some, but I think we'll wait a little while longer before we do more with her in that aspect. Let her get a little more confidence in herself (something Heckler has NO PROBLEM with, lol). I'll probably take Shy out tonight or tomorrow (it's thundering now, so we'll have to wait and see...), and depending on what she does, may take Heckler with us on a second drop... will keep ya'll posted...

Mainstreet Mason Jar

Mace entered the coon hunting scene last night. At 5 1/2 months old, the first live coon he has ever smelled or seen, he barked treed, and did an awsome job. He was a little hesitant at first but caught on quick. He got up on tree and barked like a champ. Mind you, this was a coon in a cage but the first non the less. He is not a coon dog yet by no means but he showed me very good promise last night. Thank you Nathan and Kristin. He's gonna do just fine.

That's great David - I'm glad Mace took to it well!

Shy just came in heat and the coyotes have been getting awful close lately, so we haven't been able to get out much. Took Heckler and Maverick for a run the other night - let em run for about an hour and a half, but nobody ever came across anything. Heckler did remember the tree he treed on last, though! lol As soon as he saw it he went up to it and put his feet on it - he yipped a little, then we called him away, since there wasn't anything in it...kinda neat to see that he remembered that particular tree, though...
