Great pic. and hope you have a great 2012! I think I recognize a couple of them coon.

Roy, I talked to Scott and he has a meeting Tues. evening. What does the rest of your and Timmy's week look like? Call me when you get a chance.

Timmy and I decided to sell our hides before the market fell totaly apart. Timmy and I are proud of Smoke and Robin and what they accomplished this past year. We have four dogs that we are going to push hard in the hunts this year. Guess we will see what happens. They all have the potential to do good but we still need a little luck too.

Hunted with Paul, Tim, and the guys from Wisconsin saturday night and had a good hunt. Treed two right away. One was in an old barn and got under the floor but we left him for seed. He was about 3 feet from the hole and no good way of getting him out.
All the dogs looked good and showed they are independant track driving machines that will flat out hammer down on a tree and hold pressure. We hunted Ranger and Slick on the first two dumps and Astro and Robin on the last two. By the way Tim, Paul and I want a rematch!!!haha

3 mo. old Smoke pup 2 for 2

Two turn outs with the meat both times, 0 minus pts., 0 circle pts....not sure how to score the plus pts. The last 2 times I've turned her out of her kennel she's had a chicken both times. Had to literally pry them from her, she's one tenacious little dude!

So it's unofficial but I may have the only 3 month old Mad-Dog bred "GRAND CHICKEN CHAMPION" on Truman Lake! Sure hoping coon really does taste like chichen!.........................Mark

Now that is funny!! Mine will chase a kitten but the big barn cat is still a little to tuff yet. Give him 3 more weeks and I bet he will be chaseing the big one too.

Hey we hunted last night and managed to tree one ole boar coon. The first turn out Robin went completely thru the section with out a bark. Went down on the river where she worked a really bad track but put it up on the out side.

Did you take Get-er and Lou?

Let us know when Scott can get away and we will hunt.

Hunt

Went last night for a couple dumps. Just been huntin Robin by herself. First deal opened about 400 yds and treed quickly at 600. She had four up that tree. Next deal treed 300 yds in with 3 coon up that tree. We were suprised to see that many coon this time of year. We saw seven and killed one. Saving the rest for later.

Sounds like you have Ms Robin clicking. Hope you get her qualified if you have that desire. I had never been to the finals and would sure like to attend it again. It would be nice to see more blues this year at the world hunt if we ever figure out the location. Does anyone know the location of the world hunt?

The first tree were kittens cause I knocked one out. The 2nd tree might have been a matin party they looked bigger. But I didnt take any of them. Its a nice ditch that only I hunt and already took a couple out earlier in the season. The night before we killed a boar that was pretty swelled. We are plannin on qualifing her an goin as far as possible. I think we will try to qualify Smoke or another female so we can take 2 to the quarter finals. Def agree we need to get more blue dogs in there. Im sure you'll be going back with one or more.

I do believe winning the world hunt has lots to do with having a top hound. The top hound can get beat by anouther top hound. However, luck plays into the equation and with more numbers come a greater chance of winning the entire event.

You need to mark those good ditches where you can guide me back to them during the Grand Reunion. The local hounds do have an advantage over hounds from other parts of the country. It may be a handler advantage of knowing the hunting spots. Either way, the local guys seem to do lots of winning at large events. Hope the weather holds and you guys can make it to Columbus in a couple weeks. Then to Altoona the next night. I see Zone 1 has the annual business meeting on Feb 4th.

I have not seen that many coon up one tree since the last time we all got together. It's pretty hard to strike one around here and even harder to tree them on the outside. I think Tim and I are going tonight.

Roy, I talked to Scott and he has training Mon. and Tues. so I guess Sun. maybe the only night as our season ends Tue. the 31st. So call me when you can.

Took Get'er and Lou last night.....dogs looked good Mark not so good. I'll tell you all about when I talk to you. BTW....Tim is taking the rest of the chickens.LOL I think I'm going to have to name that pup Smoken Chicken........later.... Mark

1 turn out in the rain, 1 good track, 1 coon, drove back in the snow, home by 8:45. Don't think the snow is going to amount to anything. Ranger got the strike and I let Froggy have the tree, just to keep Doug happy........Tim

Tim, sounds like a good one. Timmy went the night before over in mo. with a buddy. Timmy said they cut Robin off a ditch on the river. She went 500yrds fast and struck hit here and there and got treed fast with the meat. They sent her on from there and she took a colder track a long ways and they caught her crossing a road. The other section they didnt want to go in. Then they cut her and smoke. They treed a den pretty fast. Went down the river a half and cut em again. Robin went south and smoke went north. Smoke treed a den and Robin ran one into a beaver den. He said the dogs looked good. Taken this weekend off in the woods. We'll get fired back up Monday night.

Everybody can play!! Just might be a really late night with a lot of walking in different directions. Might ought to leave Smoke out of this one. Smoke and Robin will get super independant from each other which is surprising as much as they have been hunted together. Last time they went opposite directions and both had the meat. But man that makes for a lot of walking.

Doug, I would like to meet up with you and see Froggie go again, its been a while and I kind of miss the ole girl. By the way, hows the Turk X Crystal pup doin? Mine is over the top at treeing barn cats and we have had her out one time with Robin and she is doing really well.

Hunts

start up this weekend around here. Going to Columbus Ks. Fri. and Altoona, Ks Sat. Supposed to rain friday so that will help with tracking. We are really dry here.
Robin has looked good lately but we still need lady luck on our side. Just hope to get in some coon especially now that the boars are runnin.

The Smoke pups are now 13 weeks old and I'm getting calls about them being gritty little dudes that are gamey as all get out all ready. Mark said his is the chicken killin champion where he lives.haha I've got two here at the house that are going to be picked up here in a couple of weeks and both of them are chasing barn cats and treeing like old dogs. The female will open as she chases them and is an every breath tree dog. Not saying they will be worth a darn as coon dogs but they are a blast to watch right now.

Jay, yes Jas is doing awsome. She is super smart and gamey as can be. She will give the cats heck every chance she gets. You will like her , IF you can keep her out of trouble!!!haha

Timmy and I neither one did any good this week end at the hunts. Only one cast treed coon Friday and again Saturday night. The coon just were not moving and every body has had a tough time treeing any coon around here. Hope this next week they will start moving.

Tim get ahold of me when you get a chance and we will meet up to trade out some hounds and go for a hunt.

Hello Roy and Tim

Barley Ray is really turning it on . He is a true lay up dog . We were hunting in knee deep snow he winded one and took off . He treed right on a creek bank and when we shot the coon down it landed in the water Barley went right in and brought it to me . Everyone made fun of me for teaching him to fetch when he was a pup. At least I dont get wet. We are taking our older dog Buster to Raymond Caswells to bred to a couple of his females . He is out of T. L. Neelys bloodline and a heck of a coondog(cold nosed as they come) He will be 9 in april and we want some pups to carry his name . Caswell is a good man and got some really good bloodlines. My two all blue females are out of his stock and they are fine dogs. I hope to see you in a few months at the reunion. Tell your family hello for us.
