Sweetcorn is safer now. It was a boar weighing 14 lbs. I had set a live trap at the hollow in the front yard but the red dog treed 100 feet from the corn patch. It did her good. Would have liked to live trapped it though to show it to the other started dogs that haven't seen a coon since March 1st.
GOOD MORNING

GLAD YOU GOT HIM. ARE YOU STILL DRY?

Morn'n, set a record yesterdiddy, 103 and might do it again today. Strong wind out of the east and around here the old saying is, wind outa the east brings rain the least.
Glad ya got him LL
Saw the damage on the news this morning Heather, glad it missed ya'll.

Mornin All!
It is a GLORIOUS cool, breezing sunny day here! Man the pix on the news are awful for the towns that got hit by the storms! 4 fatalities at this point. It is SO WEIRD to see on the news here... it is such a "big deal"... and I'm so used to seeing areas my friends hit by the real BIG storms! It really scared people tons, obviously! Makes us think of the one that hit down the street... smaller storm but WAY closer! This bunch of storms was about a hundred miles away. Still had us all gathered together prepared to leash up the mutts and go to the basment. Bob was GOING to go out to the barn to get his duck in..but I forbade him...not with the kids there in the house, they would have worried. Our 18 yr old was a bit freaked out.... Will have to go out later to water some of the plant that just got moved and are in new ground... we barely got dampened.
On another note completely... Webster just displaced the kitty from "his" place on the sofa a few minutes ago... I had to physically MOVE the kitty for him. WELL... she is 14 yrs old and made a look ONLY an old cat can make... she GLARED at Webster and then proceeded to hop right back on the sofa seat and is curled up WITH Webster! LOL... First time they have almost cuddled... so of course I snapped off a couple pix.
It is really kinda cute. Wyatt, my feirce bludawg is rolling in his grave that his buddy Webster is not EATTING this kitty!
lol...
Well... LL, glad you got your coon and the corn is safe! I'm not much of a corn on the cob person...I ate WAY too much as a kid Iguess??? and I find it a pain in the neck to eat...(I'm lazy now Iguess!)... BUT... I am suddenly craving corn on the cob! LOL... Bet our local coon are dreaming of it growing soon too!
Slough... hope that rain comes SOON!!! and some cooler days as well....
Corky, Thanks for the kind toughts our way and the prayers to the poor people who were hit!
Have a SUPER day folks! Heather

Saying around here is wind out of the East, fish bite least. But that is also Bull. I planted some springtime turnips. The only frost they got was as seedlings, but they did get twice golf ball size roots on them ( I would have said Croquite size ) roots but nobodidy would have known what i was talking about I recon., and they are the best i never had. I cheated and put in a big big pinch of " Real Bacon Bits' sponsored by Oscar Meyer. And a table spoon of sugar while cooking to help the acid get out. of course after it all was salted to perfection. But i wiill say that Bacon Bits is a real good seasoner. Also messing around with a row of cabbage ,when it's hot and the wind blows , they wilt. But its JUNE down hyar by golly and I know I am just messing around . Never the less , did ya'll listen to that country hick song last summer about Sweet Tea. and some duffus was " selling turnips off his tailgate in the Hot Georgia Sun? ( deyed be wilted beyond all recognition) if anybodidy heard it that knew anything. And then his mamma gave her some Sweet Tea and she turned right around and went back., Still seachin for Direction I am positive sure.
ANOTHER HOT ONE
NOT AS BAD AS SLOUGH HOPE IT COOLS DOWN SOON
LINKUS AND BOND MUST HAVE LOST THIER COMPUTER PASS

Morn'n, not as bad yesterdiddy, just made it up to 98. Suppose to do the same today. Not much chance of rain but they have trown in a 20% chance of thunder showers if all the stars align just right. A lot of cotton having to be replanted.

Linkous is here...Bond and Buck are in LaGragde at the big Redbone days this weekend
Slough hope you guys get the needed rain down there, you ever eat any of them gators you kill?
david
Yea, we eat gator. I have a friend-customer that is a gator farmer. He has about 50000 on his farm right now. The big money is in the hides. That market took a dive over the last couple years with the economy like it is. His biggest hide customers are in Italy and France. His meat market soared last year. Seafood resturants went to gator appetizers during the oil spill and the market is still growing to the point he can not keep orders filled.

Hey Everyone
NICE day here... cool sunny warm enough in the afternoon not to wear a sweat shirt but not too hot. Had to water some transplanted plants... NOT like the areas where you guys NEED rain BAD...
Can't wait to hear how Redbone days goes!!!
Gator... I am not sure if I tried it as a kid or not. My parents always had "odd" stuff to try...LOL.. but I can't recall if gator was one of the things or not... I hope I get a chance to try it some day in the future.
I "wasted" a good deal of this gorgeous weather. For once I fell asleep and got a REAL nap in! I did some online research yesterday(on brain injury actually to see if there was any New Info out there)... and really tired myself out. I woke today and was sleepy shortly after coffee and breakfast. I MADE myself pay the online bills before I got sleepier and rewarded my self by stretching out "for a minute" on the sofa to rest my back... LOL.. I woke up a couple hours later! Took about 2 more hours to wake my self fully...LOL... I was sort of sad to miss midday outside. Made up for it when I did my pm chores. Wandered around out there looking at flowers and critters and moved a few little flowers I found to some gardens. It was SO nice since the skeeters were not around! I felt kind of guilty with some having WICKED heat, drought, storms damage etc... and me out enjoying the perfect days...
VA Reb... Wish I could help ya... but I sure dont know an answer!
Have a Great night everyone, Heather

Morn'n, well we got thunder, lightning and a little wind last night but only less than a 1/10 of water. Have heard of a few around that got as much as an inch. It is really gona take a tropical storm to give us what we need.

Morn'n, well the triple digits are back. A few people got a shower Sat. afternoon ( not I ). The next problem is, with it as dry as it is a big thunderstorm just washing a field terribly. Got 1 customer that was here this morning saying he got rain in 1 field north of down but it washed so bad he will have to replant it.
