House Pets

Me, Kitty, and Daisy livin the rough life. This was the night after Kitty won her first place. She rides around in the front of the truck most of the time and so when I show her they think she's just a show dog. That changes real fast when I unsnap the leash at the hunt though.

Hey , I just spent some time reading thru this post. Most the time when they get this big I don't even try. You should be pretty proud of the work your doing with Kitty. I've talked with Darrin many times and we always mention how Kitty was never getting hunted like she should.

Not to take anything away from ol Huey but the picture you have on the post of Kitty treeing looks exactly like Reckon. That is the way she treed to the tee. She would always stay out of trouble by sitting or standing at the base and would move out of the way if need be..I hope you get your next win soon.

A good friend of mine is hunting a pup off Reckon here in Pa. it is from the last litter I had out of her when I got Reckon back from Dean and Darrin. This pup should hit the hunts this spring and I figure it won't take long for her to make NiteCh also.

Keep up the good work and hope to meet up with you someday soon.

Qualified

Well took Kitty out to an RQE, in Queen City, Tx., last night/this morning came in with 225+ and some circle. I had a blow out 2 miles from the club and had to walk to the club to enter the hunt. I didn't have a spare and couldn't have changed it if I did becuase of my restrictions from Iraq. Got Kitty entered and had to get a ride to the woods. She had first strike and first tree, split treed right next to a blue female. She had a big fat coon the other didn't. It was the only coon we scored. She beat out 2 NtCh.'s and a GrNtCh. that got 4th. in the World a few years ago. Ended up being 7th. place overall. Needless, to say I was very pleased. Now I've got to go to church and then go back down there, 1 1/2 away, to change a tire now. But I'm qualified!
Also big thanks to Ray Anderson for giving me a ride to the woods and back home and to Mr. Dexter Watley for guiding us in the woods. Both A-1 guys in anyones book.

Hey Steve, I thought you said you needed a third place or better to finish Kitty. If so ,A third in a regular hunt is 30 points . A seventh at an RQE for a registered dog is 30 points. Congratulations I think you own a NiteCh.

Yeah trying to out run ones that were already about 3/25 of mile in put Jackie on out there. O and I decided to send ya the AKC papers to Jackie, this week hopefully. I'll have to get them out of the safety deposit box at the bank first.

Man I've been out of this so long I couldn't remember for sure how all that went. I don't think that they were to used to a PR dog winning at an RQE. I asked the master of hounds and he thought it counted as a 1st. another guy said he was pretty sure it counted as a 3rd. another thought it was regular 7th. place points. However, what I was remembering was something more like the 30 points. Guess I was thinking right. I just hated to put it down and not be right. I planned to just call UKC to check. However, if you have the advisor book and that's what it has then I guess I beat out Jackie and two NtCh Blueticks got Qualified for the UKC World Hunt and Finished Kitty to NtCh! Boy am I glad I walked on down to the club and entered her after I blew out my tire on the way there.

Zones and World

I for sure am going to the Zone hunt in Ada, Oklahoma. If you have a hound that will go I really like this place. We'll see how that goes. I also plan on getting Daisy qualified for the World Show again. I figure if I'm going to the World Hunt then I might as well try to qualify Daisy in the show again. This way I could show and hunt and just make a big weekend of it. Hopefully, none of them come in heat. That sure messed me up carrying Daisy to the World Show last year. I sure like to hunt females but it sure stinks if they come in on ya. Guess I'll change my signature to include that NtCh. title on Kitty/Music now. Maybe Kitty will get her best of show soon and have Ch title also.

That'd be Great if it were to happen. That would be some odds like the walker dogs for the final cast about every other year. 50/50 shot of a Redbone getting it. Even if it's not me, them would sure be some nice odds compared to the usual. Like I've said before to me it's not about the overall #'s but the number of top hounds in the breed if we're going for the UKC World title. However, got those Zones first then it's on to the big dance, hopefully. Time will sure tell.

Hey man if you push yours we may end up with a real nice percentage for both Reckon and Huey. I suspect it shouldn't be to long until both Kitty and Bubba are GrNtCh. I can't believe someone hasn't snatched him up yet. Wish I had the money I know I would. If he's anything like his sister we'd get along Great. Both nice coonhounds to boot.

Well looks like I'll be workin around my place this weekend. I had thought about going to a bigger hunt south of me. However, we're moving to our new house in a few weeks and I've got help this weekend so looks like it may be a week to two before me and Kitty hit things up again.

Purina Race?

Sounds good to me Dale. I plan to hit some of the closer state hunts, see how things go and then see. I may try hitting some more of them, further off, if I do well at the state hunts. Time will tell. It'll sure be nice to be able to make a run about every night of the week and be back home in a few hours. Right now I have a 45 min. drive to and from the woods I normally hunt.

on the win Steve. I hope you make it to the world hunt and win it all. Found some old pictures of me, Joe and Fireball the other day. Forgot I even had them. Gas hit $3.49a gallon Friday and its supposed to be at $4.00 by this weekend and keep going up. I figure its going to cost anywhere from 700 to $900.00 for the visit down there. Can you believe that? At least its worth it since Im picking up Dozer and Hank. We will be leaving on Wed. and expect to get there Thursday morning. We got 14 inches of snow a few days ago and on top of the ice it makes it hard walking. Ill be bringing the application for a Michigan bear tag for you and Preston. You could draw one this year yet. See you soon.
