This is J.V. Blue Bugle. He was owned by Dr. Frank Finley, and was part of the foundation of most existing bluetick strains today.

Doc Bryant, and Bryant's Blue Slammer. He was out of Hammer III and Bryant's Blue Bell. Bell was out of D.J.

Slammer was crossed with Bryants Blue Sammie to produce Dryfork Blue Spud. Sammie was out of Muddy Boggy Blue Dobber. Dobber was out of S.R. Spot, and Spot was out of Diamond Jim.(corrected a mistake. Thanks Voyd.)

Dryfork Blue Spud was the sire of Smokey River Chief, Smokey River Blue Spud, Somkey River J-Bells Be. Be was the mother of Smokey River Be's Blue Jean. Jean was crossed back to Smokey River Blue Spud, doubling up on this blood. A cross that worked.

Dryfork Blue Spud had a shot of Hammer, and a double shot of Diamond Jim. It's no wonder that he was a reproducer, and a coon dog.

Dobber was out of S. R. Spot and Olsens Ginger

Oh yea, some of you have asked where Running Bullet got the monkey-face. Wonder no more. Dryfork Blue Spud looked about the same.

Dryfork Blue Spud was owned by Aaron Petersheim of New Holland, Pa. Aaron is one of the greatest guys you'll ever meet, or do business with. He's forgotten more about dogs than I will ever know. Needles to say, I really think alot of Aaron. He is as honest, and straight up as they come.

Thanks Voyd. Your're right and I was wrong. It's not the first time I have been wrong. I have been wrong before, maby twice. No, maby three times. LOL! Thanks again. I get to talking about Diamond Jim and get carried away. Can you tell? Hehehehehehe!

Wasn't Hawk out of Diamond Jim?
Wasn't Levi out of Diamond Jim?
I think Hammer V was out of Diamond Jim?
Not sure, but think Jet 8 was out of Diamond Jim.

Just kidding. I know Jet 8 was out of Jet 7. Seven was out of Diamond Jim.LOL!

i love the looks of m.m. blue...where behind him was the saddle-back that is so dominant in our early blues?

it seems the saddle-back in the hammer studs started fading after hammer3. although the "hammer" strap across the front shoulder is prominant.

I think Hammer 18 was out of Diamond Jim too! LOL!!

Looking at these pictures is kind of like walking into an antique store, and seeing the toys you used to play with being sold as antiques!!

I tried to rattle off some crosses from memory, and found out something about my memory, but I can't remember what I found out!

I was pretty sure Fly was monkey face, actually I knew Fly was monkey face. So I doubt that Spud can be the sole supplier of the face of Monkey.
