-- Judging question. You be the Judge.... (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=96896)
Jason many states have a turtle season.
How does everyone know that the turtle didnt just finish eating the coon the dogs were running? It states clearly in rules 17t through 17v that in the event that a turtle is caught in the act of eating a coon, or is under suspicion of eating a coon..the said turtle must be brought back to UKC headquarters for a full autopsy. A master panel of UKC appointed surgeons will determine if the dogs are to be scratched for this event.

I would like to hear the official rulling on this one. Years ago there was a hound around here that caught every box turtle he came across. He eventualy made grntch, and was never scratched for a turtle.
You guys have made my day and night
I have needed a good laugh....Lots of thought and in put well done......
The judge did indeed scratch the entire cast. We are talking about less than 120 seconds into a night champion cast and all 4 are scratched.
You boys know your rules......
Cripple Creek, congrats on your win last night.
How BIG!! are these snapping turtles you are talking about??
thanks

MOH stood behind the call.
I don't know if anyone questioned it or not. I Just heard it from a friend of the judge and I was just dumbfounded. I had never heard of anything like that. I have heard of deer being caught on the ground and bayed and Calves and such, but I was at a loss for words when I heard about this.
So don't ever think a world champion is perfect or all the stud dogs in the magazines are perferct. With the right set of circumstances, they can all look like idiots.
The best hound I ever knew or ever hunted with treed a housecat in the middle of the biggest bottom of woods you have ever seen. Treed it like he meant it. I saw him tree several hundred coons maybe over a thousand over the span of 10 years and never so much as treed a possum or ran a single deer, but that one night he flat treed a cat.
The bad thing was I had really bragged him up to a guy who was thinking of breeding to him based on what he had heard about him and that was our first turn out. We went on and treed a couple more coons, but it sure looked bad.
Imagine being one of the owners of those 4 night champions and walking out into a saw grasss/swamp area and finding that high dollar hound baying a turtle. YIKES!!!
