I was really surprised at the numbers

From 11 to 20 was soooooo close. Kudos to all the clubs for a job well done.

Glad to see one from AL on the list.

Doesn't suprise me to see that it is the Clarke/Washington club. I hate to say it but I have not been to that club in spite of the fact that it is only 15 miles south of my family homeplace. I unfortunately live 3 hours north of there. One of these days I will solve that problem LOL.
Those fellows have probably got the best coon hunting in the state considering the the whole southern end of Clarke county is one big swamp where the Alabama and Tombigbee rivers come together. From that point south for 60 miles is nothing but even more swamp of the Mobile/Tensaw rivers.

Todd, the clubs having the most hunts are not necessaryly the top clubs in the country. My home club, Duplin County Coonhunters is a top notch club that enjoys an excellant reputation. WE choose to host 5 UKC hunts, no AKC hunts and occasional PKC hunts. We have 57 paid members and enjoy around 30 members and 7 kids at each meeting. A lot of time in my club is put into family and youth events. We may not be the BEST, but we are right up there with the best.
Maybe you would be better to say "THE CLUBS HOLDING THE MOST UKC EVENTS, even then as it has already been point out. they have the assistance of a lot of clubs that will not be mentioned.

The whole list is up on the coonhound news page. Whether you are a supporter, member, officer or otherwise of any of the clubs listed in all the States and Canada, please take a minute and post some comments on the sticky thread. Unless you have nothing good to say then don't bother. lol! If you belong to the any of the clubs you may want to comment on what you think has made the club successful and what you think keeps the hunters coming back.

It took me a little while to get this list together and it now personally gives me great satisfaction to recognize them and let them know we do appreciate them.

Having belonged to the Whitley County Coonhunters Club in Indiana before coming to work for UKC, it makes me proud to see that they have made the list as well. The CC club has been around for a long time, 50 + years and they work hard to keep it going. Good club and a good bunch of guys that will put you in coon. I plan on going down to their RQE this weekend and see all my old buddies. Sonny Coulter will fry you the the best tenderloins you have ever had! Come on down.

Birchwood,TN. and Decatur,TN. have always had good size hunts and have good crowds of people.

JUST THRILLED TO SEE THAT FALL CREEK COON HUNTERS CLUB MADE THE LIST FOR WISCONSIN IN ONLY OUR SECOND YEAR OF OPERATION.
PRESENTLY 2006 WE HAVE 24 PAID MEMBERS AND ARE STILL GROWING.

Is there any way we can see an entire list of clubs in each state? I am just curious how close our club came to making the list.

Which club do you belong to Bullet?

Three clubs in the top 15 are within 1 1/2 hour drive of each other. There must be a lot of coon hunters in East Tennessee. No wonder Allen R. wanted to have the World Hunt in East Tennessee, maybe that will happen some year. hehehe It is hard to believe that those clubs draw like they do with the tough hunting and thin coon population that they have. Apparantly flat easy hunting and a lot of coons with high scores is not what draws the hunters. Maybe it is good comraderie, honest handlers and judges and the beleif that anyone/everyone has a chance to win. Or maybe they just come to see some of the best dogs in the country. It is sure not the good food since Allen does most of the cooking at Meigs Co. It also can't be the building because I have been to Birchwood and Meigs Co and neither one has a floor.

RICHARD I AGREE WITH YOU I THINK ITS THE GOOD TN COONDOGS THEY COME TO SEE. THE DIRT FLOORS THATS ALL US REDNECKS HAVE .

Way to Go............

..................Stone Mountain Coon Club, Elkin, NC.

I am Secretary / Reporter for this club and we have had a very successful year so far. We now have 46 members. To my knowledge we were the first club to host a Hunter's Appreciation Hunt and this is one of our UKC Hunts - this has always been a very successful hunt because everything is absolutely FREE including the food as long as it lasts. It's just our way of saying THANK YOU to the hunters for making our club and our sport successful throughout the year.

Our club is made up of a lot of young members and our older members have been there since the start - our members are from the surrounding communities and all love to involve their entire families - both in the Bench Shows and Nite Hunts. We have also raised money for community projects such as cancer victims,
resident burn out victims and sometime just people having a hard time making ends meet.

We also work well with our other local Coonclubs - such as Surry County Coonclub. So many members of other clubs are faithful to support all the clubs in their area and have a common bond - in selecting good judges/MOH - and being sure to welcome someone new to the sport in a positive manner.

We have so many older members that I admire so much for their integrity, knowledge of the sport and I love to hear their stories of the dogs they have hunted or showed - someone should really put a book together of them. I hate to think someday they will be gone and so will those stories.

I really think much of our success is: mix the old with the new and be sure you treat everyone with dignity and respect, use common sense and always- always make people feel a part and welcomed so you will see them again. If you are genuine they will come back and eventually want to join your club. You will notice the above things mentioned along with love for the sport and their dogs no matter what breed they are hunting is a great combination. Also a lot of hard work and planning - and we have that kind of membership. It works for us.

Thanks again UKC for your recognition - we are the little club with a big heart for our sport, our dogs and people.

I was very supprised to not see the Henry Co. Coonhunters on the Missouri list. I remember one year they had 150+ dogs in that RQE ( 157 if I remember right), it was a record for a while. Also, I think the first ever Grand Slam was held there. I hunt all over the west half of Missouri into eastern KS, Henry Co always seems to draw the dogs. The hunting there is among the best in Missouri, as well as the calliber of dog you are likely to draw.

To my buds in Clinton (Henry Co):


No matter where the closest hunt is, if Clinton has one that weekend, thats were we are going.

Glad to see Murray County Coonhunter Association made the top 5 for Georgia, as I am a member and my dad was one of the founders. We have 50 members and maintain that number year in and out. One of the main reasons we have such good numbers is that we have a large Shriner benefit hunt every year. People remember the good things you do! Scooter Nix, Ronnie Bagley,Possumn Weaver, and others that I can't think of right now have worked their hearts out over the yrs and deserve the recognition for our club's success!!

Allen, might be interesting to show these clubs 1 at a time the number of entries by dates since you are not counting major breed assn events clubs host or state championships to give us an idea for each area how their numbers do at specific times of the year.........

I can say I've attended some of these clubs events during major breed events and see why they are where they are at as I had good hunting and fun attending their events and they were strong clubs hosting these events

Again, congrats to all those clubs making the list and wish them continued success !!!!!!
