Hoosier. I just need one questions answered honestly. Back a couple years ago I think the Flir thermal got some traction and several tried it. I gave it a chance but was disappointed. It was fun and neat to use but I never found a coon with it that my light didn't find first. Not being critical. But I want a thermal unit that finds the one I can't with my light. In your opinion does this unit do that.

Let me say this. I bought this unit kind of on a trial basis. I was skeptical because that's a lot of money for me to spend on a toy.

The first night I got it I powered it on, twisted the lense to focus it and that was literally all I had to do. no crazy adjusting 10 different settings like the flirs. this unit puts Flir to shame in my opinion. Most that have the flirs say they work if you can get them all figured out. Well heck with that, I wanted simple. This Pulsar was neasier to use then a Garmin.

The first night I took it hunting I walked into 6 trees and I never put a light in the tree. I found all 6 coon in the minute of scanning with the thermal. 4 I would have found easily, the other 2 no way I would have found. Even after the thermal picked them up they refused to look.

Look at it this way. You want to start shine time always with a dim colored light for the first few minutes of shine time. Well if you scan the tree with this Pulsar not only will you know its there the majority of the time you will know right where to look. If you are getting a good clear picture of over half the coon you know right away to break the spotlight out and you will be able to see it. If you at getting bits and pieces of the coon picked up you know you will have to get it to look.

Thanks. I was thinking about purchasing one today but on my way to work. I called a friend that uses thermal for several different kinds of hunting. I asked his opinion on different units and he suggested Pulsar and said he was a dealer. He said if I needed to see a unit just to let him know. Thanks for your info and I plan on checkin one out. If the rain ever stops here. LOl

Good deal! Spend the extra 400 and stay away from the KEY. Go for the Axion XM 30s you will be amazed!

That's why I only concern myself with accuracy in winter which we get very little of. If my dogs makes 10 trees in summer and I don't see a coon in these jungles, I don't worry about it. I doubt if that Pulsar would be very effective where I hunt,
