Lol. I’ve never had any problems with it. I’ve road hunted my old male dog his whole life and when I pull to a place I want to cut him he’ll go. Sometimes when road hunting him and I pass a holler I’m not going to turn him up he’ll already be starting up it when I get there. I can take him to any mans woods and he’ll go. Never bothered him but like I said a COONDOG should have only one thing on its mind no matter how or where it’s cut!!!!

It’s really thick down timber and briar woods here they really don’t want to go in it to start with I don’t either lol.

Road hunting

Seems like all the ones that are actually road hunting like it and have no problems with their dogs. I say it definitely depends on the dog you are hunting, if they have a brain they will perform the way you train them, if they are stupid they may be hard to train. Dogs like people come in different packages, some are way smarter than others. I say to everyone, hunt the way you like if you have a dog that will hunt the way you want to hunt. I am old, kind of crippled and lazy, I like a good road hunting dog that handles and we have one . Now if I can just find some real good spots to road hunt, I know this Fall I can road hunt in the National Forest. Dave

Dave, we are blessed to be able to hunt larger private ranches here in Texas and New Mexico. There are also lots of old logging roads in the Navajo Nation that make it easier to get around. While I am roading, most of the dogs are swinging out in the brush or timber alongside the road. I do have a male dog that stays in the road until he smells something crossing it or winds something. To be honest, until I started using the Garmin DriveTrack, I preferred my dogs to hunt down the road as it was much easier to keep track of them.
Adios,
Gary
