-- What would be the dream blue dog? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928516280)

I believe we all would like to lead a better blue dog and some probably do. After hunting these dang blue dogs for right at 50 years I've come to realize that I'm still learning every day, and I hope that's good. I don't have all the answers and never will but a couple things I've come to realize are, dogs that are hard, classy, pull pressure, independent tree dogs are around every corner. Dogs that get in there quick, get struck, move the track fast in the right direction and get treed with the coon and stay till the cows come home aren't easy to find. Sometimes I believe we all get caught up in glitz instead of coon dog. As mentioned before by Hat Creek Mack, titles and trophies anymore are easily acquired, hence all the titles associated with some of the top studs/females. I have never hunted a dog in the world hunt but have been fortunate enough to have hunted with some that were in the top and have judged World qualifiers and the World Hunt. These type of dogs don't stand around and play patty cake, for the most part, they're all business and the handlers have done their homework. I'm hunting a very nice young female now that is still in the learning process but she shows all the signs of making one of the types of dogs that I mentioned above. When and if she is ready to go to town, she will be carried to a top caliber male as mentioned in Hat Creek Mac's post. I'm getting too old to keep up much longer so I would like to at least give it my best shot to put some more TOP dogs in the Bluetick breed. These comments are my opinion and you can take them or leave them, that's what makes America great. Good luck to everyone's endeavor searching for a better hound.

DOGS

One man's coondog is another man's junk. Different standards and opinions of what a coondog is supposed to be makes it difficult to judge sometimes. I've hunted with dogs and bought dogs that were supposed to be coondogs in one persons opinion and I couldn't hunt the sorry rascals!! LOL Ive had guys tell me that they wouldn't hunt one like I hunt that goes so hard and has no reverse!! Good luck to everyone finding what you consider to be your "COONDOG"
