I would have to say the one that stands out in the recent years. Is a female from Michigan call mud princess l don't know if that's her full name but she wore us out at walker days one year. She was a dominant dog that night.

Parsley’s Wipeout Jake was probably the most consistent I’ve seen turned loose. I’ve drew him 4 times saw him handled Alone on 17 trees and he had 17 coons and won all 4 cast. He’s a senior citizen and doesn’t get to go to town anymore but he won like 80,000 in no time.
PCH Shot through the World is probably in the top 2 most impressive I’ve hunted with averages like 14 or 15 miles an hour all the time and has a coon EVERY time he parks. The Shack dog my dad owns is probably my favorite though. I may be a little biased but he’d line him up with anything alive at anytime.

Hound

I hunted with a nice English gyp named Dixie the other night. She put on a show.

Posted by Josh Michaelis on 12-27-2018 01:34 AM:

Wipeout Hunter for a time was a dog that nearly impossible to beat. Has all the tools and the bells and whistles, and can tree any kind of coon.

None of them are dominate for long periods. Some of The best ones only win half the time.

Depends on the dam too, certain crosses are hard to get your hands on, they are put in "coonhunters"(those who hunt and comp hunt hard that know how to make a dog) hands sometimes for free. Most pups are gonna cost somewhere between $400-$1,000.

Redneck Mafia

Why would they give pups to comp hunters for free? What would the breeders get in return?

After you raise a few litters, you will find out, you rather see pups go to some hunters for free than to other "hunters for $1000.

I'm done selling puppies to whoever will pay for them. 9 out of 10 are completely wasted

I read most all these dogs and I’ve hunted with several of them that everyone is saying..

Me personally though, Tony Smith/Roger Schabels the “wicked” Vapor is prob one of the nicest hounds alive. I’ve never been much on an English dog, but Vapor is a coontreer and has beat more top hounds than 90% of these dogs listed. Vapor has off nights and I’ve seen the speckled plug look bad, but those nights are few and far between.. He’s one of the most accurate and consistent dogs alive and will soon pass Awesome as the winninest English dog in history..

Also, I’ve seen no mention of Thousand Dollar Bill or JANE on this list, why??? Those 2 litter mates have amassed over a 1/4 million dollars in their lives. Easily making them the winningest litter EVER!! I know this is a UKC forum, but a coondog is a coondog.. don’t matter what registry he/she is hunted in..

Excellent post, give these outstanding dogs some peer recognition. I like seeing credit being given to dogs of other breeds than what the poster is hunting, this shows a lot of respect. I have seen some really good dogs in most of the breeds being hunted. Dave

Because more times than not, the breeder knows the pup is going to get hunted and hunted hard. It's actually being a responsible breeder, getting each pup into the hands of hunters to give them a fair shot. Why would a breeder not want or care where his pups go?

Titled dogs go toward the sires and dams reproduction record and the breeder gains the performance money of the sire and dam.

Why do comp hunters think that they are so much better than pleasure hunters? Why do they think that they should get the best pups. Don't pleasure hunters deserve to get good bred pups also? A lot of breeders say that they are "bettering the breed" by giving their pups to comp hunters. Do they not think that pleasure hunters tell and show their dogs to all of their buddies. And there are just as many pleasure hunters as comp hunters.

I've owned 2 and witnessed maybe a half dozen or so more since my first coonhunt around 1977 or 78.

All are dead.

I don't think I'm better. But most pleasure hunters do not push a young hound as hard as the ones getting the free pups. Another thing, why would you spend $1500 on a pup when you can get a pup for $300 or less? Most pleasure hunters are not willing to spend a fair amount on a pup, but there's several competition hunters that will spend $1500 or more on a pup. I don't too many pleasure hunters that hunt 5-6 nights a week year round either. And in competition hunts the site and dame get a much more broad audience than a few buddies. So to me it all makes perfect sense. But it might just be me.

Most pleasure hunters do not have a need for a hound that needs to be "pushed".

Posted by Richard Lambert on 01-04-2019 03:06 PM:

Why does a pup or hound need to be "pushed"? If more people know about a dog, does that make it a better dog? Should breeders produce better dogs or more famous dogs? Are top comp dogs that need to be "pushed" better coonhounds than top pleasure dogs that are easy to start/train and don't need to be pushed?

I’ve hunted with these so called CW dominators, lol . Either it’s babbling , silent mouth track dogs - that’s usually ends up being a Grnite and for sale later , or alligator tree dogs , and my favorite... won’t take a minus on a slick tree ! Seen it 1st hands several times . Yep I don’t hunt no more so who cares what I say . But my advice is to the guys that’s new to the sport “ You gotta show me “ !
