Tar/Rip

I only addressed the situation as stated on the original post, not a should not split trees to start with scenario. Keeping it simple. Lol. Dave

Yep your rules were correct, I was just agreed with Tar that it wasn't the smartest call in the world.

the same way you can award tree points if dog is at the tree when cast arrives and a possum is seen .lol

If you can respond to my question, I can give you the correct scoring. Was B at A's tree and treeing when you arrived or did B come into A's tree after you arrived?

Jim and Chews response surprised me but I'm going to have to disagree. A dog can most certainly be eligible for next available tree points on a slick, regardless of whether or not the tree was closed before the dog started treeing on that tree.

If B came into A after the judge arrived = circle strike points.

If B was at A's tree treeing when the judge arrived = assign next available tree points and minus both strike and tree points (75 strike -, 75 tree minus). If B was shut out, then delete his strike points but he woudl remain accountable for his assigned tree points. Add the 125 tree - for leaving his split tree; B would be taking a whopper here.

Wouldn't both dogs have to hold tree for 5 minutes if by themselves, if so, if dog B left tree and got on dog A's before 5 minutes would he not them be minused on both trees.

My very thoughts also. lol

The five-minute rule applies only in the case where you have a dog out that is not declared treed, OR in the case of only one dog left in the cast. Otherwise, anytime ALL dogs in the cast are declared treed, the tree(s) are considered closed and the five-minute clock rule (11(a) {unless all dogs are declared treed, on leash, etc.} no longer applies.
