Budly... thanks for your recommendation...I saw it and it is rather alarming...I felt like some of what was said applies to human beings as well...used to be milk lasted 3 days before it went bad same with bread...

It has been talked about on this forum about females not coming in heat and other issues as well that has to do with dog food...

I was feeding a brand to my dogs for many years and I know how much to feed each dog on a daily basis...consumption goes up and down during summer through winter which is normal...
Then over a period of time my dogs needed quite a bit more to maintain weight and their stools weren't solid anymore and difficult to clean and wash down...the side effects I saw was lost of weight, diarrhea, shaking of head and scratching at ears to the point of bleeding and losing hair from scratching...almost like a bad case of ear mites...one of my young gyps swelled up wide at the loins and I assumed it was hereditary on account I didn't know anything of here breeding...she acted fine but didn't eat much at all..real finicky eater...other than what I mentioned she acted and looked ok...several days ago I let her out in the yard to run and play with the other pups and she looked fine and she ate a normal sized meal as she had been with the new dog food I started using several months back...her loins were back to normal and she was eating well with the new dog food...
The next day around lunch time I get a call telling me this gyp is dying so I go home to see with my own eyes...she had thrown up some of her food and she was laying in a big pool of blood...she bled out through her behind...deep down from within me I believe it was caused by the previous dog food...I have had quite a few dogs in my lifetime and this is the first time I have seen what happened to that young gyp...she was 13 months old...

So Reuben, you were feeding all your dogs the same brand but only one bled out? Did any of your other dogs bled at all? What brand dog food was it? What brand did you change to?

From what I have read, dogs react differently to chemicals and high doses of vitamins, just as humans. I presently have been checking on other feeds. Most have a vitamin D suppliment... But.....

I was feeding sportsmix black bag for quite a few years then the loss of weight, head shaking etc...and an increase of food intake...I know pretty close what the dogs eat daily...the same food and intake went up about 25 percent and the dogs were having trouble maintaining weight...

With valu-pak black bag all is back to normal at this time...
