I don't believe that for one second. Seen way too much evidence to the contrary. Not years ago, right now today.

52, educated by Uncle Sam in the USMC. I wish this country would spend some of the welfare money on voational schools. Welders, plumbers, electricians and others will always have work.

Joined the board when I was a teenager, I’ve posted and commented some ignorant stuff over the years that was unnecessary as well as voiced opinions of my own that should have been kept to myself. I’ve learned a lot from the veterans of the sport on here and have learned that by keeping a closed mouth and open ears you’ll get further along and earn more respect from the older generation. You guys keep teaching and I’ll keep listening.

Jim

Sorry for changing the original intent of this post, I just wanted to point out to Tar the importance of education. Anyone that doesn't understand that is in denial. Dave

Oh my goodness, I am glad that you got Tarbaby straightened out on that. And I am glad to see that you know what is most important for everyone. I like to see a man with conviction. But it is kinda like a Ford Dealer telling everyone that Ford makes the best truck. Isn't it strange that people that have an "education" think that it is of utmost importance and the people that don't have one think that a skill and hard work are most important.

I'm 51 and I've made my way with a strong back and a willing mind and done well in life but that don't take you as far as it used to...some type of schooling is needed after high school to enhance your opportunities .....i have 2 boys, one still in high school the other finished an electrical speciality course and has a good job...jmo

Shane, 42 in a few weeks..

Even better than age would be # of hunts entered in the last few years in multiple registries. Hunters, dogs, equipment, & hunt styles are very different than when I attended my 1st hunt in 88..

I know it's important !! I mean 5 yrs of college to be qualified to manage a Pizza Hut ! And that's just because your parents paid for you to party for 5 yrs and they made you get off the couch and go get a job lol.

I'm 30 years old, my older brothers went to college but I decided to go straight to work and have been a lineman now for 10years. I appreciate all the older guys on here and the foundation set out there for us younger generations. My wife gives me grief all the time, says 90% of my friends are 60 plus lol. I've been in a lot of hunts and still learning everyday.

Nothing wrong with education but good old common sense is whats missing most.

Jim why would you go asking how old people are? As a lady I refuse to answer.
I will tell you that Cheyenne will very soon be 47 and many times he is the oldest person in his cast which throws out the window many who think this is a dying sport for old people. There are very few weekends that he doesn't hunt in at least one hunt. Last weekend just 1, the weekend before that 2, week before that 2, coming weekend he will hunt in 3 if you count the double header on Saturday. The month of June he hunted in 18 to earn his truck ticket and top $ dog for the month overall. He usually just hunts in that many 1 month. I couldn't even guess at approximately how many we go to in a year. The boys who go to a lot of hunts with us are 25 and almost 23.
To Jeremy and Dillion, yes you can learn a lot from your elders on this board and at the hunts but you and those even younger are the future and they need to listen to your thoughts too.

I'm willing to take a guess that the dozen or so that dominate this main board are close enough to retirement or already enjoying the golden years. So go ahead and discount someone based on age or lack of experience, see how long they'll keep listening.

Posted by yadkintar on 10-31-2018 08:04 PM:

I for one know I have had my turn at this sport I am not discounting anybody. I am working hard as well as others to try and create interest so this sport will continue to be there for years to come for the younger generation to enjoy.

What's up with the pizza hut rambling post, who you know that works at pizza hut? Like everything in life, it comes down to choices, I hope everyone chooses wisely. Excuse me for suggesting an education is right for everyone, it's not . Not everyone can handle the rigors of college classes, you actually have to pass to stay in school. The party crowd usually fails out ! Anyway, this board is for coonhunter and coonhunting subjects, not education. Dave

Dave I got a 24 yr old step son I spent around $40,000 on college last semester before graduation he quit did nothing but party and they kept passing him anyways. I gave all my kids the opertunity I did not get. Hey I never was a quitter at 36 yrs old I went in and passed my G.E.D never needed it but I am proud of it just the same. Other two boys Corey makes $19.00 an hour the oldest step son owns his own very successful buisness.

Hope this clears up things.

Most definitely, loud and clear! Different times no doubt, college isn't for everyone that's for sure. My respect for you, all you can do is offer someone an opportunity, the rest is up to them. Thanks old friend, you don't know how this makes me feel, I feel great knowing the facts. Dave

I just added up everyones age and divided the numbers and so far it is 53.26 years old that's probably real close to membership numbers in all registries

39 years old..... Just remember different strokes for different folks... I have a college degree and have taught school for 15 years... I'm probably as proud of my job as anybody, but have also helped my family on the farm fpr as long as I can remember and I know what a day's work of manual labor is as well... No matter what you do as long as you get your butt out of bed every morning and try to provide for yourself and your family that's all that matters... No matter if your carry a brief case or a tool belt ...
