Thought about this post tonight. It’s flash flood warnings in Southern Va right now, but ole hardheaded as I am I said ima go find one. Dog caught a coon on ground 900 yards from me in a cut over I drove across a field to 600, keep in mind I’m by myself, while walking in to him a treacherous downpour and thunder and lighting start. So soaked as I am I make my way to the dog , catch him half way back coon light dies I think could this get any worse ? I was wrong, it did got back to truck driving out of field the truck gets stuck in 4 low, I’m 6 miles from home on my in laws land. Me and ole Panhandle Track King hoof it down HWY 360 for 6 miles back to house. Never quit raining. Walked by a house on 360 somebody called the law, cop drove up and said man you must love coon hunting I just laughed and said you will never understand lol. Now fridays task while off work get truck unstuck

I quit while my son was doing High school rodeo's , sold the best dog I have ever seen or hunted with , swore I was done , hired a guy to help me on the farm and one day he asked if he could coon hunt I said sure I wana go to as it had been about 5 years , he brought at least 15 people that night most were kids, we had a ball chasing that ignorant bluetick he had , after about 10 useless trips I bought a dog and it was back on yep mine was useless too Thanks Lamar Tharpe and RIP my friend.

It never gets out of ones blood. Something about a crisp autumn night listening to a hound trail and tree. I am okay not hunting in the spring and summer months, but just can't stay home in the fall and winter months. Just gotta listen to those hound making music in these mountains. Happy hunting. Dave

Yep I haven't been in the woods since season ended in February and I dont kill coons hardly ever then , cant wait till sept, I just got a puppy off Randy Woodards ,Spiderman and frisky , Thinking about doing a thread on it from the start I pick it up in a day or two.
