They already grand out and have to wait until they have another dog to come back. That would just speed that process up. UKC is hopefully going to do some stuff that will help and make some of your work at the club a little easier and bring some new folks to the local hunts. We will have to see.

Good point

But I feel a sense of loyalty tword ukc because I come from a time when that's all we had a lot of good memories and it would be a lot easier just to give up and jump ship. There is a $$$$ hunt every night of the week down here I can't just make my self give up on ukc can't do it !!! All this is just throwing ideas against the wall and see what sticks anyways.

Who said about jumping ship? Schedule your hunts, offer something have a raffle, put some money in the clubs bank account and get some big prizes, Garmin, dog boxes, shocker, money, something besides what has not been working.

honestly you could over a bunch of stuff like you said but you won't draw the younger guys. I am half way between you guys and the young guys. If you offer the cash your spend on the items, maybe.....I doubt it.

Tar I was just ribbing you a little, combination of things, too many clubs maybe , not near the number of kids hunting compared to our generation. I have 3 within 15 miles of me. I belong to about 5 or 6 I think. Just try too show support. But, I am a 90 % pleasure hunter and 10 % comp hunter. What we need is a consensus of some sort. Do not know if that is possible though. But might be worth a try.

Tim just brought to my attention that when we had the old format we didn't have the performance program not sure that they would mesh good together and I agree.

Nothing ever starts without capital. Instead of jumping right into things and starting a club you need to raise funds. Have club members, and a place to hold hunts. Just because you have a pres, vp, treasurer, and secretary, doesn’t make it a club. The fore mentioned and about 20 members is a good start. Raise some funds and put on a big hunt, with prizes, trophies, and advertise.
But if you just have a hunt with nothing behind it that’s what you get. Keep doing the same thing and getting the same results makes no sense to me.

Honestly what's hurting the hunt numbers in our parts is hunting territory....i have plenty places to hunt my dog but not enough room for a full cast for 2 hours....certianly not the deep and lonely

Pretty much all of Texas and Oklahoma have the same problem and a bunch are ready to quit. If things don't change the club I went to the other night had 8 dogs in the hunt. Go in and look at the entry's in those two states we can just let it be a northern thing if that's what everybody wants we only got 3 hunts this year I can't afford any more. Plus I can be setting in that boat fishing instead of in that building by my self for free. Not being negative we slummen down here.

Tar?

I have read several of your pst saying it’s a northern thing, yankee, and what not. Why the negativity towards the north?

I hunt both ukc and $kc and there are very few people here in west tn and north ms that hunt both regularly. Everyone keeps talking about cheap titles here but one thing i have noticed at hunts no matter the kc is some group is always discussing who is winning the state race or who is pushing for a truck ticket. I dont think i have ever heard anyone over there coming to hunts to title their dog in $kc. They are all there to win more money the title is a benchmark they pass along the way. Everyone enjoys 1 hour hunts. During the week you can chase a race or ticket and still be home at a decent hour. Weekends you hunt and win or lose at deadline you pay up and get another opportunity that night. I think first there needs to be some format changes. There needs to be something to chase after besidea a title and there needs to be more publicity. Can anyone name a dog that has made a name for its owners and handlers in ukc chasing a grand title? How many dogs can you name from $kc that have been on a roll over the last few years. Another thread on here mentioned big name owners and their kennels full of dogs and their winnings but does anyone remember them getting granded?

Mike, it is tarbaby's parallel universe .... he's closer to the equator ... enables the streamlining of those trips to visit with Alice & the Rabbit

Shhhh ..... it's a secret recipe! tarbaby isn't sharing either! He's proven to be hard core on that!
