I read his articles in full cry and the last few he posted...I realized then that the man marched to the beat of his own drum after reading those stories...his brain was very interesting tome...and so and I had to talk to him and was glad I did...we talked a good while about how he picked pups and other things...he said pups were like children and we could tell which ones were going to be great one day...I thought about buying a few books from him with his autograph but he didn’t answer the phone and I never got around to calling again later ...so I missed out on having that memory in my collection...

Prayers for the Dean family. Dave was a very great person that touched a lot of lives....even those who didn't hunt a Bluetick. If you went to the Wolverine Coonhunters Club, you might have been the only guy who showed up without a Bluetick but you were still welcome! Always had a good hunt there.
Dave Dean
Been coon hunting sense, the late 70s and Mr. Deans dogs have always been around . Endurance has shown integrity and quality RIP Mr. Dean

Sad Day
Prayers go out for Dave and his family. The Bluetick breed will miss him.
He told me one time sell the whole litter and keep the pup money to buy the best one back out of the litter. Made a ton of sense to me and a heck of alot less headache

If I feed it I'm the only one that has to like it.
Had three dogs from him, some years back. All were outstanding hounds. Went with him on a cast, back in 1987 at the winter classic. That one I will never forget. He never forgot anyone. Just like he saw you in the last couple of days. The coon hunting world and the bluetick breed will surely miss him. R.I.P Dave.
Dave Dean
To the overwhelming majority of us, this sport is an avid hobby. To Dave, it was his life. A walking dictionary of the bluetick breed. Never forgot your name, even if he hadn't seen you in years. I will always cherish the trip I made, with my good friend Tom Hall, to the cabin. We carried my good female Bonnie up to meet Hammer XVIII. I'm proud to have known him and to have hunted several Hammer dogs. A great loss to the coonhound world. God can enjoy your stories now my friend. R.I.P.
Dave deserved great respect for what he did and what he tried, his dedication may never be matched. Travel well MR.DAVE DEAN

Legend..
1993 led me and my nephew to the cabin to pick a male pup out of Hammer 13..
In 1996 ..Cave Run Cody became UKC Grand Nite Ch.
AKC joy point race bluetick winner...AKC bluetick world Champion... ACHA/WCCHR 4th place overall winner bluetick world champion..
He was by far the best I've ever been blessed to own ..
To this day my good friend Terry Trivette from East TN ..still carry Hammer blood in our hounds for bear and coonhunting .
.
Whose gonna fill Dave Deans shoes?
My notion is there will never be a bluetick fancier and breeder that will not come close..
Good bye my friend...
Dean Staton
A TRUE LEGEND HE HAS PASSED OVER TO THE HAPPY HUNTING GROUNDS. Prayers and Condolences to the family.
