regardless of a 3 person panel or 100 person, their vote is still their opinion any way you slice it.

Every judge is looking for that one little thing they consider to be the deciding thing. As you stated before, you won, but in your opinion you should not have. Guess what? It wasn't your opinion that counted that day. Be glad of it and move on. Panels could work, if they all are judge qualified, but just like the hunt director panels, anyone an sit on them and make judgments. Sad thing is they don't have to be qualified or even have a clue what they are doing to make that decision. Believe me, the show folks want none of that arena. They have enough squabbles as it is now.
Like you Rock I dont need any help judging dogs if I did I would quit. I have judged as many as 75 at a show and never gave my decisions a second thought .

NOT FACT...Myth... Everyone says that, but nothing is further from fact. In some cases, it can be true, but it really depends on who's heads are counting. No 3 on here will ever be as good as the one head who cuts open people, and some on here will never measure up to just one on here. All depends on the head.

I look at this as I do some panels I have witnessed on the hunt side. When you have 3 that have no clue, that one person that does is far better to make a decision, but they normally get out voted by the less educated, and that is very sad indeed. Makes for a big mess.

Last post PERIOD

At a big major event, 3 judge panel I was on no discussion before the judging began no issues at all then the final announcement was made on the overall winner, ALL three of us were standing together announcement made we looked at each other and said how did that one win none of us picked it to win. FUNNY THINGS HAPPEN SOME TIMES 3 might not be the answer. works really well with a K/Q overall pick. Don't agree with Rock on some things BUT he may be spot on here.

So did any of you 3 say anything about it or just let it ride? So who picked the dog as the overall winner since the three of you didn't? That is not a sometimes 3 is not the answer...........that's cheating and if 3 spoke up that day, should have been solved.

3 judge panel and all 3 pick a different dog to win? Just shows how objective bench show judging can be. All three must pick a first, second and third. If all 3 pick a different first but all 3 pick the same second place then that dog wins.

i only had one that i trained for the bench . when i turned the handling over to my 8 year old daughter he was never beat . was he the best dog shown that day ? to be honest i would have to say no . lol a score card with points awarded and deducted for conformation and breed standards should be used in bench shows that could be seen by all who enter and watch shows . then everyone could see why the judge made his choices and formed his opinion for the winners .

Panel

The only time I prefer a panel is for overall king/queen, especially at an event where there is a full show 2 days, like most breed days have a show Friday and Saturday. For example, you show Friday you win your category, you get to come back for Saturday overall. If you also choose to show in the show on Saturday and that judge does not pick your dog, it's kind of pointless to show for king/queen if it's the same judge picking.
