McDonald Breeding
There is some behind Wade Kuhn's Kong dog that goes back to Nite Ch. Morans Penna Wow which Fred had when he had Awon. Wow was out of Jack's dogs and Awon was out of Timber Jack. The Grand Nite Ch. Toussaint Red Casey female was all McDonald bred that Dwayne Brough bought off Jack in the early 90's The 2 Canadian dogs Nite Ch. Moon Beam Red Billy 4 wins toward Grand then hit by a car and Grand Nite Ch. Maple Lures Red Ice and 2 other titled males. Grand Nite Ch. McDonald's Cool Breeze produced 20 some pups and 6 or 7 of them was at least Nite Ch. with wins towards grand. I wonder what he would have done if bred more. I had a dog in or around 1990 Ch.NiteCh.Goldens Midnite Max I bought off Jack that Jack came close to winning Redbone days with a couple years. He was out of Jacks and some of Ron Swann's dogs. Ron, Don Posey, and the McDonald brothers and Don Hall made a big impact on putting some good Redbones in southern, Ohio and Northern Kentucky. There is a some really good strains of Redbones because of those fellas

Owens Chickhominy Max
Philip Gray owned Max's mother then known as Grays Red Dawn Liz. Philip bred her to Hunters Timber Chopper twice before he sold her to Claude Miller of Pennsylvania. Claude changed her name to Millers Valley Liz and made her a Nite Champion. Claude bred her to Timber Chopper after he bought her also. Owens Chickhominy Max was out of Liz's second litter as was NiteCh Grays Timber Talking Chief and NiteCh Grays Timber Bawling Buck. Philip Gray had a male and female out of the first cross that were killed crossing a highway by a car while hunting. Campbells Timber Chip was out of the third cross. Max Hunter owned Chip until he was about 5-6 years old and let Wayne Campbell have him. When Max owned him he was known as Hunters Timber Chipper.
Back in those days a new owner could change a dog's name even if it had whelped or sired a litter if it wasn't a Champion. Once a dog had a degree a new owner couldn't change it's name. Just thought I would throw that in since some you the younger hunters didn't know.

A little history for the ones that never saw a Tree Hound Magazine. Sid Dowd's Tree Hound Magazine's first copy was printed in October 1976. Sid had a stroke in April 1983 and that was the last month of Tree Hound Magazine. Sid died in November 1987.

Thanks a Bunch for the picture. I didn't even know about this Mag. I love looking at the old stuff. Back in the early 70's I was a kid and I was fascinated about the hounds and I can't understand anyone especially a lot of kids today not being into it. I guess it's the generation or something

I know this doesn't have anything to do with Chickahominy Max but this dog here is behind Kong and he was the Sire to the Casey female I believe. Mitchell Bennet would have like this dog because he went back to Nite Ch. Swing Red Rock more than once. Burner was a good one he was Loud and fast and a explosive tree dog. He was owned by Bob McDonald far right. Bob told me he took him to Canada when he was 6 months old and thought he ruined him he shot out one of those big ole Canadian coon to him and it balled up on Burner and the only thing sticking out was Burners tail but that was the start of a good coon dog.

Jack McDonald sold this one here to former prof. Basketball player Jim Wilkerson i think. And he ended up with Tony Russell of West Virginia.
