Mine are higher, I don't keep dogs that can only tree pop up easy coons.

I drove all of the way out to Oklahoma to a hunt this past summer. We had a dead cast 2 of the 3 nights. Guess who was our guide and hunted his dog in my dead cast on Sat night? Hint: he was a super nice guy and a real sportsman.

I know exzactly who you are talking about Richard and he is all you say. Richard you won't mind if I debate with Kenneth a while I got to see if he can dethrone the champ Richard lambert I might see if I can hang both of you at the same time lol !!

I don't know if it would be the same to go to Yadkin River country to get the Yadkin River experience hunting with a Black and Tan who's owner carries a machete I need to think this through might have to take Richard for back up !!

Posted by rob thompson on 09-26-2017 12:33 PM:

I carry a machete in most of my spots too but like I as it the terrain and population wasn't much different at all. The terrain was pretty common to most parts of the country that I've hunted. My opinion is that when you put out feeders for a world hunt that is a bad idea.

Works good at autum oaks until the final cast and they don't let you hunt on them oooooooooooops did I say that it slipped out lol.

Posted by rob thompson on 09-26-2017 12:44 PM:

What I was getting at is you consolidate all the coons in an area when you put out feeders! That's not good for a world hunt they didn't have to get down and look for feed that means they don't move like you want at a world hunt just look at the play by play .

That and think about their coon season just opened they been shooting coons out to those 5 yr old puppys I think it was more about lead poisoning than anything else I know here if you shoot a coon or two out and leave them laying I don't care how thick they are the rest will leave you can't snow the snow man been doing this to long I guarentee in two weeks I could go up there and find a place where you could tree more than one coon a cast and I got an 11 yr old one eyed no teeth dog that could show them to ya tar don't keep them that long unless they earned it you can't count the coons she has treed that nothing else even knew she had.

Posted by Robert Johnson on 09-26-2017 02:03 PM:

This years world hunt was no different than others held in other places in other years. All but one dog went home beaten in one way or another. Sure, just like other places, there were a few hitches to overcome, but the overall hunt and the folks who helped put it on was great. Complainers are going to complain, and the Lord knows there are a bunch of them on this board, but that's is their right to do so. Maybe if all the complainers were tasked with finding a place, the people to host and put it on, the kitchen crews, all the judges, all the guides, and throw in that none of the guides and judges could cancel out for reasons of work or family problems etc.., we could have one decent world hunt for a change, at least in their eyes. From what I have seen from them on the board, UKC is going to have to begin giving out the participation trophy's like little league ball does to satisfy them. Most that are complaining so loudly have never even been to a world hunt, and surely was not at this one. Yes, admittedly there were a few bumps in the road, but they were no bigger bumps than the ones encountered else where. The real deal is this, when you have a hunt of this magnitude, and everything doesn't go as a complainer planned, they fall back on what they know best, and that's to just complain about everything! Grow up and admit you got beat. There will be another hunt in 12 months and it will be somewhere else, so get warmed up to complain some more next year. It's what you do best, and hopefully by then all the little league trophy's will be bought, and topped off with a pacifier for you to have. FACT is this, the dog has no idea where or what it is hunting for. It just goes out and does what it can, good or bad. The one that does it best goes home a winner. There is an old saying down south, There is a lot to be said about how a man/woman looses and takes it. Lessons could be learned from Mr. Cummings. A true gentlemen that earned my respect this past weekend. I never heard him complain at all, and only said he and his dog should not have put themselves in a position to loose their cast. Everyone should think about what they say before they say it like he does. I don't at times, but I should.

Oh my goodness, more fake news from an unbiased reporter. Tar did you see that on CNN or Facebook because you sure didn't go down to Georgia for a first hand report. Whoever said hell hath no fury like a woman scorned must have never met a coonhunter that got beat at the World Hunt.

Rock I hope your not directing that at me a little history on me year after year I drove 70 miles down here from Ada Oklahoma before it went belly up many times my cast was high scoring dog of the hunt. Last years zones a cast drove down here and guided them on my time they scored on 5 singles I can back up what I say in the woods not behind the moh table but I have done my share of that too jmo.

I love you Richard lol.

Posted by 2ol2hunt on 09-26-2017 02:41 PM:

Tar,
You are my forum hunter hero, I've been reading your posts for a long time and I agree with you on just about everything! However please explain what you mean by coons leaving an area after finding a dead one. I am not following that train of thought. Please enlighten me on this.

Posted by yadkintar on 09-26-2017 02:53 PM:

I have noticed through the years when you shoot coons out if you don't carry them out and you leave them laying were you shot them the other coons will leave that area jmo.

Posted by 2ol2hunt on 09-26-2017 03:05 PM:

How long you figure they stay gone and how they know when they come back. NOT being a smart aleck just trying to understand this thought line and wondering if other people see this.

Posted by yadkintar on 09-26-2017 03:11 PM:

Till the remains are gone a few days they are family creatures jmo.

directed to no one in general. just the ones that seem to have such a problem with loosing in general. No matter where the hunt is held, there will be 100-103 losers. most will not complain, but then the ones that do, do so loudly and often. poor sportsman, no other way to say it.
