When I first started you had banjo line , Finley river line, or grade I think we are a long ways from those in most cases today. Some dogs are in there so much you can't exclude them completely !!

Joey, I myself like close line breeding, and only if they show the same family traits. Halfbrother /sister, uncle/ niece, Grandsire/grandpup so on.... I try to take that ocean of genes and make it a pond.

Each time the dog is not in a generation he or she is reduced by 50% does not take long to wash them away.

Its a shame you live so far away, I like the line of dogs you are pushing. I think you would see a lot of what you are looking for in the one I am hunting also.

X2...breed all red dogs and have the red color locked in...and it is easy to maintain this locked in color...the first time one red dog is bred to a black dog and now the uniform red is made inconsistent but can be fixed after several generations and that is because it is something we can visually see...

Hunting traits is much harder to fix in my opinion...it is not easy to see and different people have different ideas as to what is a good hunting dog...still others don't put the same time and energy in breeding the best hunting dog possible...etc...etc...
