The only change that I think is needed is to do away with strike points. There are several hundred points given out for dogs getting struck when not on a coon track in almost every cast. Many don't even want to train an honest mouth pup anymore if they plan to competition hunt it.

Yes, we get 3 and 4 casts of each also around here.
Not every dog is suppose to title. These titles are suppose to designate a high achiever, not just a dog that has been packed around endlessly.

I agree to some of that. I can see no harm in making Reg. Dogs win 5 hunts for a Nite Ch. title. Low attendance has made the title to easily obtained. 5-7 cast is a good turnout these days but those of us who hunted the late 70s & 80s during the peak remember that being a poor turnout.

Remember I am ukc all the way but if there is not some changes to the rules and some changes where it creates more interest so the clubs can survive I got two hunts left this year after that there will not be anymore got to give more opertunities to win back like it used to be and send every moh or hunt director one of those big fat majic markers to mark out what I call the stupid rules so they don't have to pay for more scorecards lol.

I support all registries, but believe my suggestion of 5 hunt wins to make Nite ch. will bring attendance up slightly as hunters will have to attend more hunts to obtain current titles. If they want attendance increases they have to revamp and improve the Performance Program for higher payouts. It has grown stagnant & interest is falling fast.

Wonder what would happen if the performance ptoit was linked to night hunt degrees earned instead of just placement in a hunt. An earned degree would be worth a lot more money and would make people want to keep coming to the ukc events to get some nice paychecks.

This week, the discussion is how to make it easier to title a dog, next week it will be how to make it harder. This week we are losing entries because its too hard to make a NtCh and next week we will be losing entries because the titles have no credibilty because its too easy. Again, its neither. The entries are down for reasons that have nothing to do with any of the above.

With that said, this much is for sure. If you need a change in title requirements to put a title on your dog in todays hunts, you need to have a dog shoot'in and start over.
