We hunt two hour early rounds and two hour late rounds all the time. I doubt one three hour cast would be that big of a deal.

Sounds good. I had truly rather it be dark till daylight coon seen plus,coon not seen,minus. No circle trees.

3 hour cast no big deal. We spend 3.5 hours on a 2 hour cast by time everyone rounded up, then as Josh said,back to clubhouse for late round. 3 hours is not a big deal at all. The amount of time a cast is held really doesn't affect the dog in my opinion. Only the legs of the hunter.

Yeah, 3 hours gives more time for mistakes and more time for a dog to catch a lucky break but I would be willing to bet the dog ahead at 1.5 hours into cast would win majority just like normally the dog ahead at 1 hour in a 2 hour cast usually wins.

It takes a good dog and luck to win consistently.

Most hunts are won or lost first 30 minutes of cast. A lot of nervous handlers that strike on first bark knowing its a bad night or rough spot,tree on a locate coming off a terrible track just to be first. Very few listen to the dog and know what that dog is doing. Most just want to be 1st and 1st so bad they gamble when they shouldn't and ain't listening when they should be.

Just my opinion.

Missing the point three hrs no telemetry no tone button you call time out you got an hour to find your dog with nothing no knowing witch way to listen when the 8 is on you you can have 450 + the first 2hrs and 450- the last hr witch would be different from the $$$ hunts even with the board or zero or minuse don't cut it I been through it took a complete hound to dominate back then jmo.

You are putting a beat down on 3 other dogs they can't catch you their dogs get treed they plus or circle it your dogs at large not opening they put the 8 on you to catch you and it gets you or they just decide to do the we ain't supposed to be hunting there thing 3 to 1 vote call time give you an. Hour to get your dog and find the truck without a garmin the plot thickens on days of our yesterday lol. Y'all ain't heard all of it yet it wasent for sissys lol.

Put that extra hour on a cast and the winner will change 80% of the time after 2 hours

Don't forget you had to get back to the club by deadline time not one second over. and your score card had better be filled out perfect!

No telemetry is perfectly fine.

From my experience I have always had to have scorecard back by deadline and filled out perfectly. I lived through those hunt times also guys. The hour less don't make that big of a diff if the man behind the lead has done their homework.

Aint worth it to me (and yes im considered a young buck, new generation whatever you wanna call it). 23 years old and hunted since i was 16, which is not that long. I have big huntin hounds that love tio stretch their legs and get in there, they will not be unsnapped without a garmin. not only for their safety but their young and still need some training. Im not old school nor would I want the hassle of making stuff more difficult when there is no need. Call me lazy or young or what you will but it isnt worth it when i foot the bill for all expenses. They mean more to me than that. Y'all have at it fellers. Good luck to ya!

Two things are going to keep me from going.

1. I got the sorryest dogs in Oklahoma
2. The river is up big the catfish are biting and my wife told me we are going boat is fueled up ready to go.

I don't think that means I am henpecked tho lol.

But the memory's I have had down there get there on Monday hunt all week sleep under those pavilions all week hunt 300+ dogs Friday and Saturday night yellow tee shirts with Texas state board of directors everywhere to make sure the hunt went off without a hitch and the most important part :

Eating the all you can eat buffet at SAMs ate there last year after all these years it's still remarkable lol.

You remember the year they gave belt buckles for cast winners I still got mine I was hunting a dog for a w Norman called Normans streek out of Normans bandit he was out of spring creek rock and dohoneys Cadillac ole streek was deep and alone with two looking down every cut would not pack and that was uncommon back then lol.
