Interesting discussion about Martin's High Style. My friend, Buddy Martin, from Mississippi had a female called Bee. She was a grand-daughter of Ozark Preacher and colored like the Preacher dogs. She was in heat and Buddy called me lamenting that he couldn't bring her up to breed to Wick's Stylish Banjo because he had to work. I told him, "Why heck Buddy, I'll drive Banjo down there and we'll fix her right up." I did, Banjo did, Buddy was happy. But Buddy got a lot happier once his male pup started being hunted. He called the pup High Style and he was also an Ozark Preacher colored dog. People that know history know that crossing Wick's Stylish Banjo to daughters and grand-daughters of Ozark Preacher usually made a real good cross. High Style was an awesome and honest and loud-mouthed hound and he should have been bred a lot more than he was.
Buddy Martin and I are still friends after all these many years. But the best thing that came out of our friendship is Martin's High Style and his many fine descendants. History just keeps rolling on. Smiles.

Making friends through a hound dog or dogs. I've been fortunate enough to do that a few times myself. I've also found out that those friendships I've gained through the hounds seem more genuine and long lasting than others!!

He's just 11 months old. But he's progressing nicely. Nothing goofy yet.
Met a guy at the local coon club when I was about 21 years old....40 years later we are best friends and still hunt together. I hunt with his son and in bout 3 or 4 years (Good Lord willing) I'll hunt with his grandson.
Coonhunting has-been very good to me other than looking haggard and worn out.haha
I've got 3 or 4 more buddies I met during that first year of competition hunting that I'm still friends with. Only one quit hunting. The rest of us still limp to the trees.
Been hunting since I was 8. 53 years of it.

John did JP not get Bee , I remember 1 other female Frankie had that came from Martin but we or at least I never hunted with her I know he bred her to something but not Style , I know Frankie was proud when he got her but that's been so long ago

Stylish Queen was almost bred the sameway as Martin's High Style. was wondering if Bee & Wick's Ozark Missy were half sister's or closer related?

Martin's Bee was out of Johnson's Chiefs Rock and Johnson's Flash's Candy.

Ozark Missy was out of Ozark Preacher and Morgan's Missy.

John said that Bee was a great granddaughter to Ozark Preacher, just wondering. Maybe 25 yrs. ago I had a very good young male out of High Style when I moved I sold him to some guys from Ill. for pretty good money. Wish I would have kept him! Lol

I hunted with a bunch of pups and dogs off of Style and only one was mean and that was son of style , all the rest were nice clean tree dogs, Frankie and Martin and John since he drove his stud to the female deserve all the credit for style all Bobby did was take him away from doing what he was meant to do .

Anybody on here that has a vote, I'm campaigning for Style.
Although I never hunted with him, I know the man Tack who hunted with Buddy and style from his first hunt and until he was sold. The pride and enthusiasm and the words of greatness he bestowed upon that dog was a treat to listen too.
Hunt after hunt of outstanding dog work.
He told me of a nite when Style swam a river and treed a coon with fast running water that was in a bitter snow storm.
They had to drive quiet a while across bridges to go in to him.
This hard hunting Ole man who turned 76 I think or close to it still has HighStyle as his all time measuring stick.
If he was that man's measuring stick, he' was a bad hombre!!

He carried on that preacher color as well as if not better than any dog out of Preacher.
Lots of these dogs that have just white feet and chest, if you will look far enough back, old Style is back there.

Trying to take John's advice about letting a pup mature some before hard core training. Pups running his own track with a clear tenor mouth..trees just the way I like it. Just steady, will stay out of trouble that way, super good natured around a tree.

Maybe in a year, he mite be worthy of carrying on HighStyles genes.
I know he has a ton of world champions in his 7 gen. Ped. Hillbilly Mac 5 times alone. And also a world CH female bred to a world CH. That's rare. Plus HighStyle. He's got HighStyles chrome for sure.
