Stop trying to drag Bruce down with you. You guys are making a mistake by posting about your best cheats because, as Bruce mentions, it normalizes cheating and the idea that it's ok. Maybe Bruce has cheated before, he's saying it's not right to encourage it. While you can pretend it's all in good fun, it's not a good idea. Bruce called you guys out and now you're butt hurt because someone called you out.

Then you guys stand behind God saying I'm saved and who are you to judge me? I'd legit be embarrassed making a mistake and then essentially calling out someone's Christianity by saying God says not to judge others. Gtfu.

And when you post that you don't care what I think, believe me, I don't give a **** that you don't care what I think.

Have a great day.

Yes I do care what you think. But this tread was started not to brag on cheating but all y'all jumped on the band wagon to down one man for things a lot of other people have done but haven't been caught twist it any way you want it I was one of them that downed him to I admit it and it don't matter if you circled a slick tree or or knew your dog was off a tree and went back and you didn't minus it its all the same and everybody has done somthing at one time or anouther not exzactly right. I won't mention any names but a guy on the dark thread come there and said he had to have that strike out of the truck to up his winning percentages anybody know who that guy was I do I do not cheat and I don't put up with one anybody that knows me will tell you that but back in the day I was a stinker that's all I got to say twist it like you want it you ever draw me if I win you will know why and I won't be cheating when I do it good day.

haha and now your using the same language Bruce is speaking out against, and if you wanna go talking facts not one coonhunter out there hasn't cheated in some form or another!!! That's a fact!!!! Some of us have grown up and wouldn't think of doing it again, it's competition boys. Do you think those boys in the nfl won't sneak in a cheap shot if they think they can get away with it? Lol

Sorry Bruce,I certainly don't want to influence our youth into thinking cheating is cool. On the other hand Ive never been one to sugarcoat reality to kids nor have I ever been too worried about being politicaly correct.
I started that thread to try and stir this board up a bit. Lord knows it needs it.Garmins, dogfeed, ivermectin and what to breed to, is about wore out.

2 more times I cheated were when I didn't scratch a kid for squalling and another whos spectator shined the tree.

ps. I still have the utmost respect for you and your opinions.

Wrong direction

Now this post has become a prime example of "wrong" direction. Here we are fussing among ourselves about admitting wrong. What kind of an example is that to set for our youth? Reality is mistakes ( intentional and unintentional) have and will continue to be made in competition hunts. Bruce quoted on a former thread "things you accept you can not change!" We should not accept any kind of wrong doing intentional or unintentional and the first step is to admit to the wrong doing/s, not to glorify but to reconcile.. Next step is to accept the responsibility of one's own mistakes Not to bash someone else about his/her mistakes. Kind of like minding one's own affairs, not the kettle calling the pot black. Dave

Dave what did we learn tho? We created dialogue, we found out how people feel , we found out it's wrong to judge , several of us with thick hide knew the water was going to get hot just like putting peroxide on a cut it draws out infection now we got all this out of the way and the next threads can be positive dog talk somthing usefull and when a man makes a major accomplishment we can congradualate him without the well you remember when he did the bad thing stuff. Hope y'all got the message.

elvis, have you ever heard of a dog having a thyroid problem? Has anyone ever talked about that on here?

Posted by Chad Francis on 04-06-2017 10:02 PM:

competition

I ve been out of the comp hunts for the past 5 years. I was blown away with the whole Garmin rule a guy told me about. I ve notice when ever you add competition or money it makes normal great people due stupid things. I just have been enjoying coon hunting in the simple form with friends. I do still miss the b.s. with the hunters at the club house and the story's. But a few bad hunts still stick in my mind . I can say, I had way more great hunts then bad. I would t let a few bad ones ruin a new great hunt. Chad

Now there's a good confession. Not about coon hunting, but funny.

Posted by Mike Mckinney on 04-07-2017 03:33 PM:

It's not the young people in the hunts I've seen cheating it's the guys with a nuff miles on their bodies to know better. I get what Bruce is getting at. We all have a choice in how we act from this point on not what we have done but what we will do. I've never hunted a bunch of hunts like most of you but enough to see the cheats. It makes it hard for me to go back to a hunt when I see it. There is no honor in the rules. That's the main reason more people want hunt the hunts! What you have done in the past doesn't matter to me it's what you will do now. There are people and youth out there looking for ideas to cheat and as long as there are hunts it will happen. Not seeing someone's coon doesn't make your dog better. I've heard people say don't let a few bad hunts keep you from going back!! Well guess that's true but when you try and play fare and a few don't is why coons get shot out of trees in a nite hunt lol. I go to a hunt to see how my dog stacks up with yours not it's handler.

Let's bring a little good to this thread in the last 10 yrs I have moh a lot of hunts course my memory ain't what it used to be but I can't remember a question being brought back in all that time not saying it's your case not saying your not right but a lot of it is who is setting behind the moh table I don't tolerate it I am not a fan of the hunt dirrector format having to get a panel together and all that mess a problem ever comes in I handle it then and get them gone before everybody gets back I been to $$$ hunts were everybody sets around and waits for the questions to come back they get a panel together got an audience sombody usually makes an a** of themselves trying to be tuff it's not a good thing I hear about all this cheating maybe it's in certain areas or its people don't know the rules that think they are getting cheated I don't know.

Posted by Larry Atherton on 04-07-2017 06:05 PM:

Not a coon hunting problem, but a societal problem

Foul language isn't just coon hunters though I will admit it is often prevalent. The thing is I hear some absolutely horrible language from young female college students way too frequently. Their language is worse than when I worked on a construction crew many years ago.

Personally, I believe over usage of foul language only lowers the perception of one's own intelligence level, or as one of my son's said when he was a young'in, "dad, that guy sounds stupid."

As for cheating, I never have condoned any form of cheating in coon hunting or outside of it. Society is based on a set of collective rules. If we want society to succeed, we simply must follow those rules. The biggest problem I see today is that too many people truly believe they are more important than any silly ole rule.

Yes, the world is in a sad state, but as I have stated before at the end of the day I can only control myself.

maybe it is certain areas but don't fool yourself it's there. Pleasure hunting other night our dog trees and is covered by two dogs on a cast. Now I know what should have happened when this happened. Dare to guess what they did? Yep scored the coon and left. I don't get beat by cheaters a lot nor is it the reason I lose a hunt most times it's handler error on my part my dogs weakest link.
