I'm all for giving our Military what they need to do their job quickly and decisively, however, throwing more money at a problem isn't always the way to fix it. If it was, the Democrats would be the greatest problem solvers in history. Stopping all the politically motivated social engineering would go a long way in recruitment, readiness, and retention. I'm not so sure Trump can be trusted to take up the cause instead of just maintaining status quo. He did, after all, invite Bruce Jenner into Trump Tower to use the restroom of his choice. Again, I fully support our Military and agree with allowing appropriate funding. After all maintaining the Military is actually mentioned in our Constitution, unlike so many other pet projects our Government funds.

As far as Government involvement in the healthcare industry, our so called leaders can't even seem to operate clearly defined Constitutional responsibilities, much less those things they magically read into the Constitution. As far as not forcing anything on anyone, how is this possibly accomplished? If one single person disagrees with whatever policy our Government decides to implement, that person will be forced to comply.

I can agree, in theory, on stopping Muslims from entering our country. After all, when you read the writings of Joseph Story (U.S. Supreme Court Justice, appointed by Pres. James Madison), the First Amendment was specifically addressing the issue of Christian denominations, not other belief systems. However, implementing a program to verify background information that often is undocumented, coupled with trying to discover the intentions of a group of people whose worldview and belief system allow lying as a means of accomplishing their plans (Taqiya), would, at least in my opinion, be next to impossible.

We probably agree on many issues, just maybe not on how best to solve them and who would be best for the job.

Tom, seems you are looking for some thing to cry about. I believe Trump was talking about immigration, citizens do not immigrate. The voters today are so dumbed down that you need to give them a very vague idea to get behind. Imagine if you gave them your written immigration plant to read, all 700 pages, how many would read it and how many would understand it? So they throw out a talking point, the media takes it all out of context, then someone gets his undies all bunched up and goes on a forum like he read the proposed law and is all of a sudden an expert on immigration. I will not discuss what you "thought" he said, what the media "thought" he meant about some thing you know absolutely nothing about.

The fact of the matter is we have a Constitution, and it MUST be followed! You can NOT ban citizens based on religion! I realize it's a dicey situation, but the Constituion must be followed! Trump's latest assault on the Constitution came by way of his attack on free speech. He now is on record as saying the media should be regulated. For all his supposed love of the second amendment, he sure seems to hate the first! He's a liberal so it shouldn't come as a surprise, he would attack the Constitution. However, in fairness to Trump, I think he is just clueless, but dangerous.

You're 100% on the media. It's nothing new! Nobody remembers Romney's "binders full of women?" His 47% comment? The 2 or 3 week story about him being a bully and beating up a gay kid in grade school that nobody could find classmates to verify?

All this about a man that held his tongue and stayed on message. They don't even have to try to be biased weasels with Trump, they just wait for the next days soundbite.

We were not talking about foreign groups. I was replying to Triple K who said, and I repeat ALL Muslims. Which has been proven to be unconstitutional!

To yadkinrivers post again we were at war with a country, thus we banned them based on their country, not their religion! We have NEVER banned people from this country based on religion! Why? Because it would be a disastrous precedent to set. Because some leftist president will come along, and ban Christians! The ground work has already been laid!

Now, since we've discussed the first amendment, and Trump supporters seem unconcerned about Muslims loosening their first amendment rights. Let's move on to the second amendment. Do you guys support stripping ALL Muslims from their right to bear arms?

That is a few people could vote for.

Here is a couple more. Education he wants to give back to the State and local communities are involved in there children's education instead of the politicians and lobbyists.

Going to build the wall to deter criminal activity across our southern border and put in nice big doors to welcome immigrants into this country the right way.

Don't know how you could say that. If you're only figuring economic freedom along with modern age medicine giving protection against major diseases, then way back during the Reagan era was the best times.

Since then we've lost both economic growth, and personal liberties.

% of Gross National Debt per GDP was 60% under Reagan, now it's over 100% under Obama. By the year 2025 we will be spending more money to service our debt than we will be on our military.

Economic growth under Reagan averaged 7.1% , under Obama an anemic 2.8%.

One of Reagan's highest initial priorities was reducing restrictive regulations. He enacted a regulation task force, and by Executive order issued a rule requiring all regulations to meet a common sense cost-benefit analysis.

Just Obama's single coal regulation cost over 9 billion annually. The regulations beyond that are too numerous to list.

Individual and religious liberties are getting squeezed at an alarming rate. That's a whole other page of discussion.

In my biased opinion, USA is still the greatest place to live. But anybody that thinks it's the best times we've ever seen is living with blinders on. Near 70% of Americans that think the country is headed in the wrong direction agree with me. They might not agree on the FIX, but they can sense things are not even close to right.

Tom, No we have not forgotten about the Constitution in fact we want it enforced. It is in the constitution to ban any foreign government entity from entering the country that wants to over throw the Laws of the United States. That is why you saw so many career politicians on both sides of the isle condemning Trumps temporary ban. They have found the group of people that believe in government and government control they are called Islamic Refugees and will give the U.S. federal government power over it citizens as these refugees believe in Sharia law and total government control. Your American dreams will disappear for your grandkids and great grandkids if the government takes control of it citizens and these refugees is the easiest way for that control to be awarded to the federal government.

The Golden Age, it appears, is always when someone is in their prime. People of a certain age either point to Clinton or Reagan..... But really why not Ford or Martin Van Buren? You point to Reagan, but that is probably when you where in your prime.
Wouldn't the manifest destiny be the ultimate time to be an American or when we purchased Alaska? How about the California Gold Rush? Coming home from WWII would be a high water mark for pride in our Country.

I think people (and I am guilty of this too) get stuck in their own little fishbowl world and their only reference point is about their 30 good years.

I prefer to think of this as the Golden Age, and why not? You can't control it, and might as well make the most of your life.
