Hey Jeff, This is a little off the subject, but I was curious to see if you got your Garmin issue fixed. If so , what was wrong with it ?
On the subject: Good luck with getting the hounds lined out.

if beagles take the track backwards it's taboo but it seems like it's way to common in coonhounds.

cherry on here should be of enough scent comming and going just put the old dog back with her.
I would think that she would stop this terrible trait as she becomes more experienced. It sounds like she wants to run back and fourth where the scent is strongest and trails it until the scent plays out a little and turns and goes back over the area where scent is strongest.
If she does not improve in the next month or two, I would begin to think that there may be a shortage of intelligence. I would hunt her with an older dog that can unwind the tough tracks and take her to the coon for several hunts. When you think that she has made progress, hunt her by herself and see if she has or is just following the old dog. A dog running back and fourth on the same trail and expecting a different result reminds me of myself sometimes. Good luck my Friend.
Adios,
Gary
Great advice Gary.
