-- Non-hunting judges and Garmins (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928452953)
Richard
I say we take an entirely different approach to things. In the UKC Performance Pack Program for Beagles, the judges have to run right along with the dogs while they are hunting. I say we have the Coonhound Judges do the same thing
That way, it would be real easy to tell who is moving, who is actually treed, who is babbling and who is off taking a leak in the bushes, etc.
It's a great idea in theory, then we would only need to put a tracking collar on our judges to keep track of them in case they keel over or something like that! LOL

"Oh my goodness......"
It sounds like we are getting to the point where the non hunting judge watches the dogs on a garmin and calls them...that's good, soon the handlers can just drop the dog off at the club, pay the entry and come back and get him when it's all over!!!
This will work about like my father-in-law telling me to give him the money, he will buy me some lottery tickets and if I win he will pay me....I been doin' this for 20 years and aint won a dime yet!!!!
Put body cameras on the judges like the police got now !! Babbling dog no problem show the moh. Dog fight no problem show the moh. Sombody being unsportsmanlike like show the moh sombody saying the dogs in such and such kc don't do that stuff they are cooooooooondawgs pull up the footage!! Deep and alone with 2 looking down camera might show deep and alone with nothing looking down endless possibilities is it legal to use your own camera ?
I'd like to know where you are finding all those "non hunting judges".
Put them on the hunting judges I would hope the clubs are not using untrustworthy judges or buy your own to keep things honest lol. Smile your on candid camera lol !!

King Richard
you need to take up pigeon racing with the homing pigeons, had a neighbor did it for a time, get ya a truck driver to take all the club members pigeons to a point and release em, you sit in your easy chair in your back yard with a beverage watching for them to return, as all other club members do the same, maybe have a shotgun to scare off those pesky hawks, when your bird comes into your home coop you run up and get the band off his leg and clock it in on a clock that is sealed to the correct time all other ''handlers'' are doing the same, fastest back wins--lol--
I THOUGHT WE WAS A COONHUNTIN, NOT PIGEON RACIN-- or you may want to race pigeons.

If you can get non hunting judges, give them absolute power, like an umpire in a baseball game, and your night hunt problems are solved.

cameras
Non hunting judges? LOL! I would have better luck finding Bigfoot! And cameras ............ oh boy the last night hunt I was in the hunting judge got so nasty with me, if I had a camera I know UKC would have banned him for life! In fact my hound was winning the cast when I withdrew him for the fowl language, degrading, and flat out cheating to try to ketch up to my dogs points. This guy uses his cell phone finds coon that aren't there for his dog, calls of your dog, and uses his own mind for a stop watch. What broke the camels back was he was going to give my dog minus points for coming back to me when the trail was in the highway! He is well known and what a jerk! When I went back to the club house to tell them they told me yeah some guys take it too seriously. And I refuse to pay money to tell my side! They also said they were hoping he didn't show up.............. yeah its about time something changed and I am all for proving it how ever it takes! Lets face it I am being like trump here.......... I am only saying what you all want to the only difference is I am saying it! Again great post Richard I am pulling for you!

judges
I have pleasure hunted coon for 30 years. Comp hunted mostly the last 5 years and in that time I can remember one non hunting judge. I have competed in water races, field trials, bench shows and night hunts, but mostly the hunts. Not sure if I am going to keep doing the hunts, one guy told me I am too honest. LOL. I can give that credit to my up bringing.

I usually disagree with a progressive point of view, however that being said I do agree that in this situation it is most appropriate. Nicely put Darrell.
