-- pinched nerve in shoulder?? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928437180)
......TENS Unit.......Transient Electrical Nerve Stimulation....
I use one. I have the shoulder thing and a few disks in the lower back bad and going bad.
You can get the reusable ones, and the gel adhesive that seems to be a little cheaper. If you are as hairy as I am on the back area, you will have to get someone to shave it close. Or you could try waxing, I just have the wife shave my areas.
I also use a gel pack my wife got off Amazon, some sort of gel pack that you can microwave for heat, and freeze for cold treatment. I got a couple different kinds and really like them for the cold part, nothing beats a good ol heat pad.
I was in the D.C area not long ago with my wife, treated myself to a massage from this Japanese woman, cost 100 bucks, best money I spent, seemed like she was pushing little knots out of my muscles, deep tissue, thought she was going to kill me, but shoulder hasn't felt this good in a while.
Sucks getting old.

nerve problem
Chuck,
A few years back, I had pain shooting from the top of my shoulder or bottom of my neck all the way down my right arm. Had a painful tingling pulsing feeling.
Did the MRI at hospital. Then got hooked up to electrodes on a visit to a neurologist. To make a long story short, I ended up being prescribed a drug called Neurontin (actually a generic form of Neurontin). It seemed to work. I took it for a while regularly, then took myself off it, periodically taking it again when the situation flared up. I filled my prescriptions to keep some on stock for use when needed.
If it's nerve damage, this may be worth a try. You WILL have to actually bring it up to a doctor.
All I can say is this is what finally worked for me. There were other steps along the way that didn't work.
Hi Dave , been awhile since we've spoke !! Yeah they gave Neurontin ( Gabapentin) and they gave me Lyrica also ,both of which made me sick . So now they have me on Cymbalta which is working ( no sickness) thankfully . So now I'm on the Cymbalta , a muscle relaxer ,a pain med .,and vitamin b-12 and I go to therapy tomorrow . But I'm slowly on the mend .
Both the therapist and the neuro Doc. say that with a high degree of certainty that I'll never be back to 100% and will be on the meds the rest of my life and on/off again therapy.
