He was not a legend as some might consider, but he was a legend to those of us who watched him at the events. My heart goes out to you. I am hopeful the magazines do a full story on him.
Thank you for showing us hounds can be more intelligent than most of us thought.

SO SORRY
We are so sorry for your loss of your Very Special old dawg. Of course he lives on in your hearts.... ALWAYS... because those we love always do.
Your story had me in tears, as it will Bob later on. We have lost a few old friends in our home over the years and some how a coohound just brings such special things to a human life. It's always sad to say goodbye but when we know we gave them a good life it helps. YOU and your wife sure did...
The fact your friend survived... was a great thing.......... What a miracle!
You and your wife are in our Prayers, Heather & Bob William

Wesley, I'm sorry that you had to say goodbye to Elvis. I know the two of you were inseparable over the years. You were blessed to have each other for more years that the average coonhound's life.
I have many memories of Elvis, mainly centered around seeing the two of you at the Tennis Center in Aurora, KY at the PKC World Championship. I recall the demonstrations of Elvis' "tricks" and who can forget Wesley as an Elvis impersonator when you returned your cast-winning scorecards and there were several.
You and Elvis were inspirations for me to train my buddy Hoss who amazes me the way I'm sure Elvis did you as you began to see at a young age what he was capable of learning.
You have a storehouse of memories and I hope they will bring smiles as you recall this remarkable dog and the times you spent together.
My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend.

Very sorry to hear about Elvis. He was a joy to watch in the Tree My Dog DVD and to see the setup you would do for him at the big events. My thoughts are with you.

Hardwood Elvis Attack
I just wanted to post a little story about Hardwood Elvis. Back in 2007 I was about 15 I lost my first coonhound, and was going to quit hunting. However, my dad talked me into going to autumn oaks that year. Now I was young I had seen Elvis in the coonhound bloodlines book and liked Elivs, but had never seen him or talked to Mr. Sanford. When we got to autumn oaks Mr. Sanford had a big set up and was showing off elvis with his tricks and treadmill. He had some pups and my dad asked me if I wanted a pup and I said no I didn't want to hunt anymore. We'll later that day I went to watch the bench show. I got separated from my dad and when I got back up with him he was carrying this little puppy. He had went and got me a female puppy off of Elvis, so I wouldnt quit coonhunting. We went back and I spoke with Mr. Sanford for the first time he was a real stand up guy.a few years later I had gotten into hounds and bred a female to Elvis Mr. Sanford worked with me on the stud fee, and showed me around hillBilly hill. I got to see Elvis and just had a really great time. We spend the weekend up there to make sure my female got bred. Mr. Sanford and his wife are some of the best people I've met in the coon hunting world. I just wanted to take a moment to let the world know my story and thank Mr. Sanford for keeping me involved with hounds, and having such a impact on my life. Wes if you ever need anything just give me a call, and if you have a moment I wouldn't mind catching up and talking if you'd like. My cell number is (540) 460-9490.
Thanks Again,
Chris Nelson

I agree Wesley and his wife are good people, and in 2004 my wife got me a pup off Elvis, which turned out to be the best hound i have owned to date, We went to hillbilly hill and picked him up,Wesley and his wife were very nice,a few yrs later me and my hunting buddy went up and hunted with Wesley, and before we left he purchased a 5 month old younger brother to my dog..., I now have 2 grandpups to Elvis to keep it going.

Great stories ,, memorys are comming back
I have gotten to talk to so many of my ole friends I had almost forgotten about and old stories,, like when I hid the coon tail behind the gas cover on my buddies truck,,,, he opened it the next day at the gas station and it popped out. He said he fell over the pump island and almost hit the car next to him,,, thinking it was a huge spider.,,,, thanks guys and great to hear from you again.

Sorry to hear about the loss!! But congratulations on the amazing journey that he took many of us on!! That dog forged many bonds that you will carry on for the rest of your life. I know you and I dont get to talk near as much as I would like but you have had a huge impact on my life that came about all bc of Ole Elvis. Elvis also brought upon my good friendship with Todd Vermulean and I that is still strong today. Its amazing that an old coondog and a redneck from Hillbilly Hill could impact so many. Once again, congratulations on 15 amazing years and many more to come.
Sorry for your loss.

Those were indeed some of the best days of my young life. The kids and I are going to make a trip to hillbilly hill sooner or later so they can experience a little bit Wesley Sanford themselves !!!
Thought you might like this Wesley
