AGREED!

How many dogs hunt in the RQE's through the year?

I'm gonna guess around 2,000 dogs enter paying up to 5,000 entries each year.

How many of the dogs entered in the RQE's are trying to get qualified for the Zones and how many are just trying to earn points toward a title? The "Premeir Title" all depends on who you ask and their opinion. This could be argued for days. I would think that anyone would be very happy/proud of either PKC or UKC World Championship Title. Of course, the PKC title comes with a little $$$ as an added bonus.

Richard your correct on the dollars for the winner and that anyone would be happy to win either. But don't kid yourself UKC World is still the premier title the one that counts for the most coon hunters out there not just an individuals opinion. Take a male redbone, bnt, bluetick and win the PKC world and see how many dogs that dog would breed. Now have them win UKC world and he would be swamped with females the 1st yr. if he reproduces he would be bred heavy the rest of his life. PERIOD

Now back to the conversation about Super Slams.

$250 to win $1200 roughly Ukc hunt split $875
$300 to win $4500 Pkc pro hunt split $2300

That's why

I also think making the handlers pay so far in advance has something to do with it. That should just take a deposit like everyone else

I agree with the paying in full in advance has something to do with it but then again i can see why its done that way to make sure the prize money is available if you pay your advanced entry i'm sure you'll attend rather than lets say you only have to pay $50 you may show up you may not now if you spend the $250 you'll most likely be in attendance.

I think it will get traction it just takes time. I think advertising the individual hunts may help but if you make it a series where at the end there is a big hunt with a decent pay out for the winners of the hunts you'll see the attendance rise a lil.

my club is going to hold the max of 3 mini slams next year to hopefully help draw more hunters but then again it may or may not help.

I hunt both registries n believe me the OE events no one who is hunting them is getting rich off just those.

personally i like the UKC rules a lil better than $KC for the fact that I don't think a dog that scores -100 lets say should be considered a cast winner just my opinion. n i know that someone will say the old say "well someone has to win the money". but i know personally if my dog won with a negative score it doesn't deserve to win a thing.

Posted by walkerhound17 on 05-21-2015 08:29 AM:

Even the ukc reckonises that u need a winner in the slam events allowing a dog to advance with a minus score providing that dog has a plus or circle tree on the card.

I know the liberty ind hunt didnt fill primarly because of the date. The same week as a $20000 hunt.

I think they need to go to a 36 dog field get down to top 3 and pay 3 places and 6 cast win money winners ran over 2 day hunt. Then they will get the prize money up high enough to attract dogs.

You left out the part about those Pro Hunts requiring you to beat 63 dogs whereas the Slams require you to beat 15 dogs.

A lot of UKC hunters have howled about money hunts. Now they have them. Pay $250 for a one in four chance to win $850 and now all we hear is they won't enter cause 1) Not enough money 2) Not enough dogs 3) Don't wanna pay in advance 4) Don't like UKC rules 5) Don't like spot hunting.......

What a crock. If you dont wanna hunt them, fine. But don't sit here and say "Ill hunt them but first they gotta change this, this and this."

Jim, there is something wrong they only had 4 dogs sign up, to the hunt in liberty. I guess since it is working so well don't try and fix it.

More are getting cancelled due to not enough entry's then actually filling up. The guys that hunt those style of hunts will go where ever the money is.

And I never said I would only hunt if they changed ect...

I never once said I would hunt them, but I see you're point. UKC made an effort and I applaud that. that being said no matter what rules they change I will never hunt in 1. UKC is simply not a registry that is conducive to hunting for money.

Oh n like those $KC OE events are conducive for money lol

Posted by Richard Lambert on 05-22-2015 05:02 PM:

Allen, will there be an additional entry fee for the Year End Invitational? I should think that the dog that qualified would be the one to hunt in it, not the owner. I don't understand the reasoning behind that part. An owner could switch dogs and hunt one that had never been hunted in one of the Super Slams. It looks like there will only be about 25 or less dogs hunting in it. If you only let the top 16 money winning dogs hunt then there would be more incentive to hunt in several Super Slams.

I'd hunt them if they let me blow my squaller every time my dog treed and not have to babysit the ones that are still at large. That's not too much to ask for.

SAMPSON COUNTY CHA, Clinton NC

WE had SUPER SLAM last night. The entries had sold out early and a good crowd showed up last night. The club furnished a great supper of BBQ tenderloin, boiled potatoes and green beans at no charge, donations only. A lot of fellowship was had by all. All cast came in with plus points. Not one single complaint of any kind. Cast winners decided to split giving them $ 850 each. Everyone had a great time and are already looking forward to next year. Everything is what you make of it and we had a great group of hunters.

Ill be heading to Iowa later this summer. Money isn't everything fellows. Hunted in one pkc hunt seen two of the worst dogs I've ever drew. One was mean both quit trailing to come to my dog. Also drew a cheating son of a gun as a judge. So have at it.

Super Slams

I think UKC should come up with a few new Super Slam hunt titles. The only way to achive each title is by earning the set amount of money at a Super Slam hunt. Have 3 titles at 2 or 3,000$ apart from each other, that would make for some challenging titles to achive and something more for UKC hunters to run for.

Allen it does qualify the owners for something but not the hound you can take any hound in the owners name. Now Mr. McComber might be on to something look below.

Tyson after reading this post I would say you are correct and on to something. As I have thought about this UKC is about titles on dogs and not about races over the year. I don't think I would go with the money won on a dog but the hunts they win as UKC doesn't keep records of lifetime money won on dogs. Keep the format they have set up now But Add 2 more titles a dog could achieve after Gr. Nt. Ch. Titles would be Slam and Super Slam and these would only be obtained in the Super Slam events after they make Gr. Nt. Ch. To make a dog Slam Gr. Nt. Ch. you would need to win 3 Super Slam Events not place but win take 1st place hunt it off in a late round and win with plus points. Then to Make Super Slam Gr. Nt. Ch. you would need to win 5 Super Slam events after the dog obtained the title of Slam Gr. Nt. Ch. with the limited amount of Super Slam events this would take a while to achieve and a lot of rubber on the road.
