-- Recasting (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928416257)
Every dog is different however by doing things in steps as the dog progresses seems to work the best. 1st thing as stated before teach the dog what Dead coon means. After every tree pet the dog up and as you begin to lead them away tell them dead coon, works best after you knock a coon out and let them chew on it a min. then tell them dead coon for the 1st time. Be consistent and tell them that after every tree. Then lead them a great distance and try to find a hot track. Once the dog seems to have hit a new track and pulls on the lead then recast them. Do this until they take off hunting every time. May take a few weeks or month. Once they take off every time then you can start walking a shorter distance to recast. If they don't take off go back to leading them to a track. Once you have the dog to were they take off every time from short distances you should be able to walk them a few feet from each tree to recast. If they struggle and go back to the tree from short distances enlist a friend to stand at the tree and yell at them to get out of there. Some dogs take longer than others but this has worked on every dog I have had. Good luck.
