I hope this helps you some, The first UKC hunts that I attended was in the very early 60's ,like 61 or 62 . Prior to the UKC holding competition it was all ACHA best that I can recall.

Mac McCallister. promotion, he was in the rite hands, produced good lookin loud hounds,,,I am not knocking Lipper,he put drive and a lot of go in his pups, but he was a product of House breeding......Lipper's daughters were outstanding reproducers, some of Sackett Jr. 's best crosses came from Lipper daughters.
Joe House said if Lawyer would of lived a longer life, we would all be talkin bout Lawyer, he said Lawyer was a better reproducer, Joe should of known.......

I told you a long time ago that you needed to watch the movie Where The Red Fern Grows that was back in the horse a buggy days and they had Comp. hunts then and until Ann and Dan come along the Walkers was winning every year.

So watch the movie , you might get some training tips also.

I spent a few days picking Joe House's brain on dogs, he said the same thing, If Lawyer would had lived the blood we talk about today would be a lot different. But he didn't.

You cant just keep going back in time more and more. Might as well pick Tn lead if you do that. Did lipper have 5000 pups? Where's he at on ukc reproducer list? I dont get the book.

Just my opinion but if sacket jr would have lived longer that list would have looked a lot different the common denominator several of those dogs had was Yadkin river Jeff even lipper had some Yadkin river through shives gold hill Lou I believe .

Competition hunts are fun and a good thing but not the final say on the total dog. Take Lipper out of the gene pool and you got a HEAVY dose of yard dog chopping, close hunting , lazy , non tracking bucket dogs. LOL !!! You might win a hunt or two but is that what you want ?

yeah but the question was about competition.

True. And no doubt lots and lots of other stud dogs through great pups that we're balanced but I just mean the huge difference between your average Lipper dog and your average dog from other popular bloodlines.

And 85 percent of the people on this board wasent tough enough to hunt a direct son or daughter out of lipper there's some being put on the ground right now for 3000 to 5000 dollars a piece we will see how many you just don't ever hear about again that's been going on for years to !!!
