that is also part of the issue with a dog that does squirrel at nite. the consistency at which you have trouble with them is all over the place from what i notice. 1 nite seems like it's a big issue then there are nites only a tree hear and there than other nites nothing but coon. so correcting them can be unsteady work.

im just a beginner as I just went on my first coon hunt about 30 years ago. I have only went through approximately 100+ hounds that apparently treed to many squirrels at night as I am not walking a mile to a dog that makes a habit out of treeing blanks or squirrel that I cant see at night. I don't have flying squirrel here so maybe they are your problem, or possibly the line you hunt has not enuff coondog bred into them and to much cur? All dogs make mistakes and will miss from time to time. I sure don't want to start one of those accuracy threads (VIC STOLL LOL) but if your dog pulls up slick I guess its better to cuss the squirrel then the dog!! I got to run to the farm as Im sure these two pups are hooked solid on squirrel or a slick?
