All I know is if it`s shy it can make a good one for someone else.I have had them come out of it but not a good % and alot more work.Even if they did come out of it I would never breed them.Like alert ,bold and active pups.

I've got a buddy who's been breeding hounds for years and some of his pups have been shy/timid around people, yet they still tree coons, win hunts, finish to GRANDNITE, and reproduce as well. I'm not saying all shy dogs make it, but believe me some shy ones do.

I think you guys are confusing "not worth the gamble" with
"can't do"
I think all of us that are saying we don't want a shy dog have seen one that could back up your argument but your just starting off on the wrong foot when you pick one that way. That shyness thing can be a pretty big hurdle to get over and with so many pups out there I just can't see why you would want to deal with that. Unless it's your own cross and you feel there's something special in there making it all worth it. If I'm paying for a pup from somebody else's litter I want the dice weighted in my favor as much as I possibly can and my best chance for success is going to come in the braver more outgoing pup. I'll agree 100%. The last one I had that was timid wasn't worth shooting and to this day the guy I sold her to still can't get her out of it. He's a very patient man lol.
