I've been shot at twice in two years.... people are nuts up here. I stay away from houses as much as I can and try to put a good handle on all my dogs.

Last time i was shot at was in PA.
We drove down for a hunt they call the snowball classic. Dogs got treed along a river and as we were gettin them handled some idiot started blastin away from across the river with a shotgun. beebees were bouncin off the trees, needless to say we grabbed the dogs killed our lights and snuck outa there.

First hunt was with a fella from Elk Garden, WVa. It was around the late summer/early fall of 1976. The guy had an all blue bluetick. They treed a coon and the guy shot it out. It wasn't dead and was getting the better of the dog. The coon was on top of the dog really making him squeal so the man told another one to hit him. That guy swung a pretty good sized stick right when the dog and coon flipped over and he knocked the dog out cold. The coon got away. I was hooked for life.
Worst hunt was a nite hunt in Virginia. The club needed a guide for the nite champion cast. They made a member that was going to hunt his dog grade scratch him and judge/guide us. He could not have been more of a jerk and smelled of alcohol to boot. We listened to how his dog would have already had the coon treed, his grade dog was so much better than our nite champions, etc., etc. One of the other handlers had enough, so he picked up a stick, produced a knife and started sharpening it. Our dogs treed and this judge didn't want to go to them to score the tree. He kept pulling out his compass and saying they moved. Finally the judge asked the handler with the big sharp stick what he was doing. He told him it was for him..."if you don't straighten up and fly right I am gonna run this stick right thru the middle of your throat." He yanked the compass from around the guides neck and threw it down through the woods. The judge regained is ability to remain silent, but refused to go with us to get one of the dogs because it was "Posted" land. I really thought there would be a fight that night but no, just a jacka$$. The club refused to refund our money. I have never returned to that club.
