since when can you shine trees in a hunt that has already been scored??? also I do believe it is against the rules to just shine a tree you are not allowed to just shine any tree once you see they are on the same tree you just get them and go the tree is dead, and the last I knew you could not shine a tree until you was told to shine it by the judge.

Well, I may be wrong, I've been before, but I think 5(g) rules this one. Reckon they will straighten us out on this one?

Should scratch all dogs for returning to a tree period. That would solve this possum issue Id be scratched anyhow cause I proceed to whoop mine.

So skip, this is how I am seeing this. dogs tree you walk back to tree. you think this is the tree you were previously on. so you look up to see if it branches out to confirm same tree. possum sitting low like they do. scratched. now up here were we live winter time you would know by snow being beat down but dry summer time it can/could be hard to tell especially if dogs were not treed long before tied back.

I can tell if it is the same tree or not I do not have to look up, I lived up there where you live for 50 years I do not need snow to tell me if it is the same tree or not.

I was thinking when this type of situation came up in the past, it was brought up that if you can't score the tree, you must make the case that dog(s) trailed the off game into the tree in order to scratch or minus because you can't score the tree. But the tree is deleted even if you do make the case that the dog trailed the off game into the tree. I'd sure like to see the official response on this one. I prefer being wrong to being left in the dark.

Uncommon "what ifs" are one thing. "What ifs" that have never actually happened are another. I have one.....

Dog is declared treed. When you arrive the coon is not in a tree or even on the ground. Instead it is floating around in mid-air about 10 feet above the dogs head out in the middle of a bare pasture field?

I'll check back Monday. lol.

Allen; Carl Fox has a thread called "ghost stories" I think you need to put this story there. We're all being really serious for a change! LOL

Search Chris Roady , date 2/6/12 rule ? You had it right back then Jim but for some reason change your mind ( lol ) . For everyone else the answer is there but I don't know how to post it on here but maybe someone can . The answer from Allen/UKC is SCRATCHED

Looks like you're right!

6(k) takes precedence: Dogs are scratched for {Running, treeing or molesting off game during "hunting time"}.

Nites and Grands are "scratched", opposed to "scored", on off game.

THE only time a champion is forgiven for "treeing" off game is per 5(b) when they come in "after the judge arrived". (meaning while still at the tree)
