how can you give advice on what should happen or what needs to happen, and you cant even buy a membership for $25?

for these organizations to be successful as they can, it is as simple as most all of us buying a membership each year and going to the breed hunts, even if its just one or two of the ones that are close by. and heck, even u dont competition hunt and cant get someone to hunt the dog for ya, just come show a couple of dogs to support the breed and the organization.

and im sure im going to overlook someone that deserves special recognition and im sorry if i do, but i cant help bu tmention if we had a couple hundred members like Tommy Higgins, we would have hardly any worries. Thanks Tommy and to all the members for the support

You are right. I'm sorry. I know you were talking about me. I do know there are certain principles that work, and I am passionate about the breed. I am a current member of BBOA, but I do apologize for voicing my thoughts. I did want to mention that I was a member of BBCHA for several years, and was at one time a NC representative.

im not offended by any comments, and folks can say what they want to, and im going to say what i want to, but try to be respectful at that same time.

some of your posts seem very heart fealt on this thread, but it reeks as hollow imo when its not even important enough to ya that once a year y putting a $25 dollar check in the mail adn send it to one of the organizations. and i know funds are tight for alot of us, but if a fella can afford to feed 3 dogs he has an xtra $25 laying around at some point through out the year. and i aslo find it hard to believe that after hunting hounds for 40 years, the only time it works out for an individual tp make it to national hunt is when he is recieiving a reward for himself. whats odds for the stars to align just right on that year?

im not trying to offend, just speaking what i see. we all need to make it a priority WHEN WE CAN, to support in ANY WAY we can.

I appreciate you're input Craig! Im a new member of both associations. I haven't been a member either as long as most on here. But a person can still offer their advice or input. I've been hunting Blueticks for over 30 years, and I've been the president of our local club too at Scott County CHA. I've organized a bbcha battle of the blues sectional hunt, and have hunted in the BBOA hunt at Stigler, Ok and the BBCHA Smokey River Memorial hunt at Wister,Ok, and have hunted in the bbcha hunt at Keota, OK. But I do love our breed and love our sport and would love to see it grow and prosper!

I had no idea that the organization was even thinking about honoring me until Wayne Hooker told me. He told me it would be good if I could go, and receive it in person. Most of the larger bluetick hunts are a fer piece from Mayberry, and I have to preach every Sunday morning. I have always wanted to attend a big bluetick hunt, but it was almost impossible. I thought, if they were kind enough to honor me in that way, the least I could do was be there to receive it. I went to express my appreciation...that's all. If you knew me, you would know that.

and as a pastor, i hope you can appreciate frankness, and not the watered down version that is previlant today.

its really not about what these organizations can do for each of us, hoe do we help them becuase heck these breed organizations are the CAUSE, they are the ones out there promoting our favorite breed of dogs.

I do appreciate it!! I can handle honesty. I try to be honest in expressing my thoughts or opinions. I didn't deserve the honor, and told them so, but I do appreciate it. It was a dream come true, just being at the hunt. Got to meet people I had heard about, and read about...and to finally meet them was something else. I had never seen that many blue dogs in one place in my life!! They are not honoring me this year, but if I'm physically able, I plan to be there. It wuz fun!!!! About a week or so ago, I told one of the officers of BBCHA that I was going to join again, and try to get involved as much as possible. They can verify that I'm speaking the truth if they would like to. Up to them. Oh yeah, I think the dues for BBCHA is 30.00 now.

BBOA & BBCHA

I for 1 think that combining the two assoc. has never and will never work. We have held the Bluetick Reunion for many years now. A lot of the time this didnt work with one of the two assoc. falling out of it for one reason or another. To my knowledge this is the only hunt that both assoc. come togeather on and it has never really worked. True some of these reunions have been a success, but at that I think most of the hunters were there to represent one or the other assoc. I think we would be a lot better off to keep the assoc. as they are. I think all members should work harder to support their respective assoc. and it sure doesn't hurt to be a member of both assoc. and to support both when you can. We are all in this because of the love that we have for the bluetick hound. I think some time we for get this. I know the few times through the years that we had a bluetick hound in the final four of the world hunt. He or she had the whole bluetick world behind them and no one asked what assoc. it belonged to JMO. Take care and good hunting------Jack

I did invite Craig up and it was a great weekend and well deserved for somebody that has put the time and effort in blue dogs like he has. I was very glad he could come and hope to see him back this year. I think all ,weather a member are not has a right to a opinion, without being put down are bashed because they haven't being to the hunts much are a member ever year. I guess that's why we have to have to clubs.

My last post on this thread: Everyone knows there are differences in the two associations. We can live with the differences, or we could work out our differences, and for the ones that can't be worked out, we could work through. I can't help but believe a unified effort would strengthen the breed as a whole, and bring the men who hunt them together. Whatever we do, it ought to be in the best interest of the breed as a whole. I will continue to hunt blues whether they win the world or not. One thing this thread has done, it has motivated me to get more involved in both associations as time will allow me. Regardless of what happens in the breed associations....I can't do much......but I want to do what I can....if there is anything I can do to make it better. Good Hunting, and God Bless each one of you!!!!!

Lance, I'm glad I got to meet you!! I sure hope things are going good for you. I was like a kid in a candy store. I had always wanted to attend a blue hunt, and it was better than I imagined it would be. I felt that if I was going to be honored, the least I could do was attend. I'm so glad I did, and already looking forward to being back this year. Hope you get to come!!!! Take care!!
