I was hunting in SC the other day and a 13 month old dog went in a coyote den. I lost all gps signal and could only hear him when I got to within 50 yards of him. Not sure what he was after but he was completely gone under ground lol. After calling him he came back out.

My buddy lost 2 redbones in a cave near albany ky years ago , it was sad to go there every day hearing them bark while we threw feed down in until we no longer heard them
You guys/gals are doing a good thing and you'll probably never really know how much it means to the hound owners . You should post a web site/email/phone number so if we ever need help in a hurry we can try to contact you

Cavers like myself are GLAD to help you all. Not only do we like to explore new caves but we enjoy helping others more. Combining the two is a great experience! We are EXPERIENCED too; we can rescue safely. I have seen a few comments wondering why the owners didn't go after the dog. Both rescues I went on did attempt before calling us, though they either couldn't fit into the hole or the cave was dangerous (collapse, pits, etc). The last thing we want is to have your life compromised too. People are harder to rescue than a dog. Hahaha... We're there for you, use us as a resource

That would be me. Hahaha... It was a team effort though, no one person should get credit. You probably saw the first rescue in the paper, Jane the Hound. That rescue involved a cave that had unstable shale layers and needed someone skinny. Warren Byrom and myself got her out of the narrow crack with the help of the HUGE support team including Thor who helped within the cave also. The effort went flawlessly. I just love teamwork...

The second rescue in a different part of Kentucky was a really narrow stream that was partially dug out by an excavator. If a land owner were to have tried that and was skinny enough, it would still have been VERY dangerous without proper experience and support. Lesson: if it's not safe, leave it to those who can do it safely.
