Larry, that is ok with me. Unlike a lot of people here, I don't have to be right all the time! And I'm not saying I am here. It takes all kinds.

I do know this though...I've had the kind mentioned above. When he was right, he was hard to beat. Kept you leash locked. When he was wrong, it was so wrong...but no amount of heavy hands, electricity or boot leather was going to wear him down...

With that said, if I had to tree a coon on the 31'st of January on a full moon night, with a foot of snow on the ground and I absolutely, positively HAD to look at coon fur and not a den or a "maybe"...that would be the dog I would want.

Even if he barked at something else along the way.

being right has never been a habit of mine, something I freely admit lol.

I have always packed an honest dog and called it the same way though. I always said a dog was never going to win because of me, and in fact had to win IN SPITE of me

more often than not a no nonsense true coon dog will rack up points when that other kind is goofing off.. not always most most times.

either way, I never wanted a win or title that wasn't deserved........which might be why I had a limited amount of success in that department in hindsight

Im afraid I have gotten to that "old" title myself lol.

In the old days (dec 13 I will have been married 24yrs) my wife had to keep an eye on me and threatened to hang a shock collar on me WAY more than I ever thought about using one on even the trashiest dog .

If I had been a hound I would have been the worst trash runner in history :P

just like a hound though, in my old age it takes less energy to bark at something I can see rather than chase something I cant out run.

If you can stand it, live with it. If not the Remington express.
