Dang. Those are great bucks...I just got in from a quota state park hunt. Course yesterday was earn a buck day. Had to kill a doe before a buck. All I see are bucks. So today was anything goes. I waited and waited. Ended up shooting a 5pt. The park is over populated bad. 120 deer per square mile and I cant find a doe on it I helped out a little. Bout killed me. My plan was to drop him with a shoulder shot. Somehow I blew his heart out. He took off like a rocket toward the truck. I was like great. Then he turns runs 400 yards dead down a big ol mountain. Had to drag him out of there. It was like what I figure competing in a marathon would be like

my daughter got her 5th bow kill buck yesterday, just a young 8 pt., her 3rd time out this year. I was not far from her and I heard a bunch of racket and all quite, figured she just knocked one down. She said at 4:15 there were bucks all over her chasing a couple doe around. She was happy with it and with her working and a year old daughter she doesn't get much of a break!! I have passed on some young bucks and a 130+ 10 pt. if he lives he will be a pig next year!

This is my niece Emma Kellam. She is 13. I think this is her third buck. She shot this at my house Saturday morning on our firearm opener. Very proud of her. She has been shooting in air gun leagues for about 4 years now. (I would highly recommend that for any of you with kids and a league nearby.) She is a pretty darn good shot. Threaded the needle on a 75 yard shot through the woods with a TC Encore 50 cal. She did have my brother sitting with her and coaching her. Dropped this one in his tracks with a perfect shoulder shot. After that she pulled on latex gloves and field dressed him. Now I don't know about you but I know a few men who still field dress their 16 - 20 year old "boys" deer. This is a young lady who can get it done in the woods or the duck blind. Very cool.

I have not been out lately but my son has hunted in these brutal temps, and wind. he has been seeing anywhere from 8 to 40+ deer a sit in the evenings. I myself am not going when its in the teens and wind blowing 20-30 mph. Wife and I went out to eat last evening and coming home a HUGE buck just about made me a hood ornament. I know he was 170's plus. Just outside of Mansfield Oh.
